So I'm in fifth year. I did transition year last year and I study English, Irish, Maths, French, Biology, Geography and History. I do grinds in Irish and Maths. I would like to study English and French in Trinity and the course was 535 points last year. I keep hearing people say the high grades are gotten from the work you do in fifth year etc. and it's freaking me out! I don't think I'm slacking off but I don't think I'm totally making the most out of the year! If anybody has any tips, for individual subjects or for fifth year as a whole, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks so much X

Chill the hell out. Doing more than just your homework in fifth year is excessive. I don't know who these people you refer to are, but I've never met any of them.

I can attest to two or three of my high grades in the LC being the product of an unholy couple of weeks of cramming in June of 6th year.

Don't go too hard on yourself this early.

Try to enjoy fifth year as much as you can, because sixth year is gonna be horrible.

First of all, you need to go to the Leaving Cert forum.

Secondly, just make sure you are keeping up with the material and are relatively comfortable with it. Enjoy this year and the coming summer, don't study during summer. Even when you go into 6th year ease into study bit by bit in October/November. You don't wanna burn out by the time it's March.

After the LC do have another good summer, because remember first year in college (and any year in college) is tougher than 6th year, I think.

Even this is an exaggeration. It'll all be fine if you keep your life healthily balanced.

I wouldn't say you have to do any extra study but make sure that you do your homework and put in a good effort into understanding the material. In 6th year you'll spend most of your time memorizing stuff so it's important to understand it now while you have the time.

Enjoy life while you still have free time. Once you start moving up on through college that quickly disappears.
