Well at least they're done with the prison now. Bit of a cliffhanger for who's still alive.

So do people still think that the show is stuck in a rut with the Governor and that the prison is a permanent home hahaha some of the theories that were put here were so bizzarre!

The last 20 minutes were the best in the 40+ episodes. What a payoff.

Great episode, the whole dynamic has changed now. The group are split and the safety net of the prison is gone.

It makes the second half of the season very interesting now, new challenges, new people and enimies and will the survivors be able to find one another again? Looking forward to it now.

    Really glad

Good actor, but that story arc needed to end.

    Sorry to see
    Herschel

    Good enough episode.

Ya me too. I think they hid her, shot a few walkers and then went running back to get her.

As for the group being split, they obviously had the bus set up as an escape if needed, so surely they would have set out a location where they should all meet up if separated?

Holy sweet mother of god...what an episode. I practically staggered out of the room after watching that.

There was that moment when you suddenly knew what the Governor was going to do and it was just god-awful horrible. It was the reaction of Maggie and Beth that made it ten times worse too.

It says so much about the show now that they took the person filled with the most humanity out of all the characters and did away with him so gruesomely. I really didn't think we were going to see stuff like that which the comics have had no trouble showing so far but kudos to the writers for having the balls to do it on the show.

As for Judith, I'd like to think the other kids have her. That being the case, you'd wonder why they'd make Rick and Carl experience so much pain and then find her again. But then again....having another child killed in the show plus Herschel, maybe that would be too much for one episode. I hope so.

For those of us who have read the comics, it was just like watching the pages come to life,
    albeit with one major difference!

Best episode of The Walking Dead ever.

Id say the next major threat will come from
the person/group that killed that other camp and beheaded those guys and put the signs on them
    .

Think that was done by the man of the house and then killed himself, not by marauders.
I think Judith is dead. She's a liability as a character from a plot point of view. The characters need to be a lot more mobile now outside the prison and a baby would add complications. She had to go. Also, why else would the baby carrier be covered in blood if there was nobody inside it. Finally, it was fairly gruesome and it took balls to imply a baby was eaten alive, I think they'll end that character there.

Anyone spot the Irish woman near the end who came back as a Walker? Was 99.8% sure it was her.

The camera did linger on one particular female walker, I was wondering why.

    Great episode on the whole!

... pity it came 8 episodes too late.

Thought the Guv's pep talk at the start was a bit rubbish, everyone just agreeing apart from the sister. Also, Rick electing for a fist fight with the Guv when he had his gun lol

Enjoyed the Irish doll as a walker at the end.

Pretty good episode. Definitely wasn't 10/10 but the best episode of this series, I would say.

Interested to see how they follow on from this. Who will they follow, if not all; How long will it be before they're all reunited. There's at least 3 or 4 separate groups after the fighting.

The more I think about this the more I agree with you. From a practical and logistical point of view of the show, it makes much more sense if she is gone. And
as they're lifting a fair bit of this arc from the comics, she did actually die at this point also

Yea brilliant episode, shame it wasnt done at the end of s3, but sure they at least went back and re done it because it was so badly done last time. Was worth it in the long run.

I think the baby is alive as after the girls help Ty they run one in one direction and he says the bus is this way, but then follows them so, yea i reckon she is hidden.

Kinda disappointing more characters didnt die in this episode, but it was good to finally see them actually shooting people for once.

Actually thought it was relatively lame up til the stand-off and ensuing battle, which pushed the overall mark up to an 8/10 for me. Sorry to see Herschel go, but felt it was inevitable (anyone else reminded of Eddard Stark's death there?). Feels horrible knowing Judith is likely dead.

@degrassinoel, instantly thought that too about Carol training the kids.

When Daryl was being approached from behind by the walker, they cut away so we didn't see the tussle. It gave me a horrible feeling that at the end of the battle, they were going to reveal he had been bitten.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,691 ✭✭✭DeepBlue

Definite flashbacks to the comic there with Rick telling Carl not to look back when leaving the prison. Given Lori's death in the comics I reckon Judith is definitely zombie-chow.
Lily was a bit too merciful to the Governor - if anyone deserved to be ripped apart by walkers it was Brian/Philip and presumably that was Michonne's intention when she didn't finish him off.

Definitely an exciting episode which probably wouldn't stand up too well if you slowed it down and examined it for plausibility but lots of good stuff there. Who knew that Carol had trained those kids to be so good at head shots? :pac:

    9/10

I am going to dock a mark for Daryl picking up a zombie one handed and walking around with while using it as a bulletproof shield against multiple 5.56mm NATO rounds fired by a rifle with a muzzle velocity three times the speed of sound in order to advance 5 yards to throw a grenade. Could he not have thrown it from cover He was within range FFS

Ruined it a bit and completely pointless plot hole just like Hershel's unlimited shotgun ammunition in the season 2 finale .

Forgot to mention the rats at the fence from earlier episodes. I had agreed with those saying it was the Gov's doing in order to bring down the fence, but it's clearly now an inside job. For one, Tyreese finds the other dismembered animal inside the actual prison walls. Secondly, the Gov (unbeknownst to us at the time) has a fecking tank!!

So I'm now guessing the unseen group that attacked the camp Martinez and co. found were the ones targetting the prison. Which means there still may be a traitor in Rick's group.

And I'm convinced that particular walker near the end was the Irish girl from episode 1 alright - Rick's pleas to the Gov about being able to come back echoing her own cries. Then the irony of her indeed "coming back".

    Fair enough about the marauders.

I still dont believe Judith is dead, I still think the kids or someone else has her.

There is a variety of reasons of how the blood got there and i wouldnt read to much into the blood anyway, someone has Judith anyway IMO, I just cant see her being dead, if they were going to kill her off I think she would of been a confirmed kill and shes not.

Lilly could have her. I dont think it was overly gruesome, zombies dont usually eat things whole, I know shes a baby but there was no bone or entrails in the carrier only stains, definately not dead IMO.

Have to say I thought it pretty amazing they showed a kid getting bitten. I never thought they would do it actually. Fair play. Think leaving the kid and mother on their own was a bit lazy and stupid tbf. Also as much as I love David Morrisey some of the lines written for him were a bit weak imo. Great episode all in all. Herschel, too soon. Saw a spoiler about his death last night before I saw the episode. Raging. Rick's speech was fair emotional. However I miss the badassery Rick used to show. Hope that returns and we see less and less of sobbing Rick. Best episode yet though.

This harks back to the old problems with parents and kids in this show...why the hell did she leave the girl out of her sight?! After all that happened to them before that point and she leaves the girl so out of sight that she has to run yards to try and save her. We had this with Carl in season 2 where it became a joke and it's happened again!

That and Daryl with his kevlar-wearing walker were the only issues I had with an otherwise near-perfect episode. It's just such a shame that we have to wait until February for the next episode.

I'm going to have nightmares about the Herschel scene...I can still hear the ping of that blade as it was about to be swung

The Guv was a right sod hacking poor Herschel's head off to ensure he was dead, that said, Herschel shouldn't have been crawling anywhere that far as the initial blow would've severed his carotid artery giving a pretty swift death!
