What way do you sneeze?

Was sitting in work at my desk today and could hear a woman sneezing who works on a completely different floor, i couldnt believe how loud it was.
I also remember when my dad used to sneeze that the house would nearly shake and you would see the spray from it go across the room :eek::(

When i sneeze i try to be as quietly as possible by holding my nose as to not annoy anybody around me, what do you do?

Usually I will hold some kind of soft paper over those orifices, if such a thing is to hand.

I usually look up when I have to sneeze and this seems to trigger it. I also sneeze in bright sunlight for some reason.

If I have time I fold my arm over my face and sneeze into my elbow.
Sometimes it just happens too fast though

This is actually a thing. Can be a problem for pilots apparently.

On a somewhat related note, I once lived with a housemate who when she sneezed, would orgasm at the same time! 'Twas quite disconcerting at first as I thought there was something wrong with her, but no... Eventually I got used to hearing "ATTCHOOOOWAAaahhh... uhh... uhh"

I don't quite know how to verbalise that but I could never keep a straight face when she did it, I'd to leave the room before I pissed myself :pac:

That's waht I'd call polite sneezing!
I too am a polite sneezer but these days I have to cross my legs when I sneeze to ensure I don't pee!!! (polite old lady sneezes)

Isn't it dangerous to completely hold in your sneeze, or did I just toootally make that up?

I always do that polite thing where you stifle the sneeze when in the vicinity of people but when there is nobody around, it's very satisfying to one in a big roaring, snot-eruption style.

I make a weird funny noise when I sneeze, I try to hold it in and also when I sneeze and I usually do it in batches of 3 or 4! Really sounds ridiculous

• cause injury to the diaphragm
• break a blood vessel in the white of the eye, causing bruising of the white part around the iris
• force air up the Eustachian tubes in your ears and cause a ruptured ear drum or an injury to the inner ear that could lead to vertigo or hearing loss
• weaken a blood vessel in the brain and cause it to rupture due to the momentary elevation of blood pressure

Holding in an aggressive sneeze can

• A violent sneeze by someone who had sinus surgery can push air into the space around the eye and cause it to bulge, or push air into the brain cavity and cause an intense headache or even stroke
• A violent sneeze could cause a neck injury from a sudden extension of the neck
• A violent sneeze can cause momentary incontinence

Depends where I am and what mood I am in. If one happens to threaten when I am being pestered by some irritating bint then I am more than delighted to turn it into a Rodgers & Hammerstein production. Similarly if I am alone I'll really enjoy it. I'll even stare at a bright light to make it more intense. If I'm somewhere really enclosed or quiet then I can suppress it so that its nearly silent. Almost always followed by a two second panic as to whether this time you have actually expelled an eyeball or burst a blood vessel that will leave you a barely functioning cabbage...

I sneeze every time I suck on a strong mint (even a polo mint might trigger it). I used to assume everyone had this problem!

Look into the light, I swear it works.

I always hold my nose when I am in a classroom, public etc., hasn't killed me yet, I am a very loud sneezer, you would hear me next door if I was to leave it off.

This happens to me too (though not every time). Also sometimes with chocolate mousse, for some reason.
