Thanks op and DylanK. Nice pair of size 12 CATs on their way to me for under €50 delivered. Was gonna avail of that offer of the £10 for £5 gift certificate but I was feeling lazy ;)

Thanks a mil OP! I just bought a pair for just over €50 there - I was in the shop earlier trying them on for size, they were €130!!

The sizes are pretty big I had to go a size smaller - the reviews on the site say the same..

Another site worth mentioning for CAT boots, amongst others, is www.branch309.co.uk with free delivery over £50.

Not quite as cheap as the Amazon price above, but handy when Amazon prices are at normal levels.

Hummed and hawed, created new email and got a pair for €47 delivered.... not bad at all!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭bidiots

Jesus, just checked my order again to make sure all was ok. I thought I should be getting a better deal than most due to using the gift card promotion thingy. Turns out that I selected the wrong delivery method. Quickly changed it to the Super Saver and for some reason, it has dropped down to €35 all in:eek:

So that works out at 41 euro(Gift Card inclusive). Can't go wrong with that:D

There going to be too big now aren't they!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 283 ✭✭philon

    Cheers OP, €54 delivered.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 865 ✭✭✭kazzer

Yeah I got mine. Think they came from Germany so took a while. Can you check in your Amazon orders to see the status?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,028 ✭✭✭d31b0y

I got mine pretty quick. Within a few days. Mine came with tracking.

EDIT: actually, checking back on the order now, it took 7 working days.

Looking at these for my husband for xmas, he is a size 9.5, so he'd normally buy a 10 if there are no half sizes - did those of you who have received them find the reviews correct, that the sizes are bigger than other boots? (if so I'll go for the 9 but that seems risky!).

If nothing comes back from other purchasers, I'd side with caution and get the 10. Particularly with boots. I'm a nine in a shoe and I wear size 10 Cats. Plenty of shoelace to hold it on and I find them more comfortable worn with chunky socks anyway:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,028 ✭✭✭d31b0y

I'm an 11.5 in one foot so it's kinda hit or miss for me. I decided to go for 12 in these since I can just wear nice thick socks if they are too big. To be honest, they don't seem that much bigger than I was expecting. It's about the size I thought a 12 would be.

If in doubt, go to a store and check them out (difficult without your husband finding out... maybe you can chop his foot off while he sleeps ;) ).

FWIW, I'm a 9.5 and went with the 9 an there's still some space in there. There was a comment on Amazon recommending the same. I used PM and Prime trial and got these within 2 days

I've a pair of Cat boots, normally size 11 and had to go down to a 10. Still some room to spare. Have tried on other Cat stuff too, its the same deal in all of them.

Yes - "in transit". Been the same way since the 26th of November :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,381 ✭✭✭✭Allyall

Did anyone send them back and get a smaller size?
Did the smaller size fit, and what was the return time like? (Would i get them in time for Christmas)

not a chance will you get them before christmas now, they probably wouldnt even get the returned pair back before they could send the next.

    What i figured :(

I got mine during the week, couple of things I noticed, the stitching to the sole starts and ends at the toe which doesn't look great on a light coloured sole, one of the brass lace grips isn't positioned correctly, too close to the other one.

Just wondering if we've been sold seconds or even copies!!!

I thought Caterpillar were supposed to be quality.

Anyone else noticed any quality issues?

Yes. One of my pairs has a "Stitch" that looks like it could snag on something and pull out. But they are too big anyway so both pairs going back. (Both Cat, different boots.) I'll try and photograph what i mean before i send them back. Apart from that, they seem perfect.

Last year i bought from the "sale in a sale" on amazon, or a sale with an extra discount. I purchased 4 pairs of footwear. Three had to go back, sizes were wrong, (European sizes). I kept one pair of Firetrap shoes and the stitching came apart after only a few wears..
But, I'm just after reading other reviews when i was looking for that link, and it seems they were just shít shoes.

I've been wearing mine a few times a week and sometimes they are incredibly painful - the back of my foot seems to grate on the rear of the boot - no real padding. Hard to walk in them. Does anyone else find this, and any way to ease it at all?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,270 ✭✭✭deegs

they will ease...soap was the old trick... not sure id use it on the suede?

    Same here!
I also expected the material the boots are made from to be a little thicker and warmer. My feet were perished after wearing them for a day. I thought CAT boots were supposed to be made of a bit thicker and warmer material

got mine a while ago only looked now - they ain't Colorado boots , I've been wearing cats years and they are totally different to the boots I've bought in barretts - quality wise they are rubbish , tags inside say made in chins whereas my other boots are made in Bangladesh -
they are identical to a pair of stickshift cats I have that were bought from amazon but defo not colorado boots - I suspect they are fakes

    http://www.ebay.com/gds/How-to-Spot-Fake-Caterpillar-Boots-/10000000177465420/g.html

just checked against the above guide and I think they are fakes
logo different , unstamped eyelets and box label all different

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,381 ✭✭✭✭Allyall

I always thought Amazon were pretty strict on stuff like that. I thought they had policies to they and make sure that fakes aren't sold.
These are both sold and dispatched by Amazon. Are you sure they are fake? Seconds would be more likely.
I sent mine back, and didn't have time to wait for refund, ordered two more pairs. It'll be the first thing i check.

I'd be pretty sure the boots in the photograph on the Amazon page are real, and the eyelets on those aren't stamped either. It does say on that ebay page also, that only some may be stamped. Box labels may be different and the stamp may be a caterpillar machine and/or the word.

How about going into Barrets or the like and comparing them?

I went into debenhams myself to try on a pair before I bought and they look identical to me.

I'll be going back in to double check.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,381 ✭✭✭✭Allyall

Yeah. i'll definitely be checking when they arrive too.
Just seems unlikely that amazon themselves, would be selling fakes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,180 ✭✭✭shnaek

Mine arrived and I've been wearing them the last two days and they seem great to me. However, I looked at that ebay link and found there's no registered trademark R (step3). All the other steps are perfect though.

They have them, they're just in black. The logo on these model of boots are different to the ones on the ebay link.

    From Schuh:
    3200516130m7_main.jpg

    And the laclets:
    3200516130m2_main.jpg

    Also unstamped.

Definatley not fakes, no way Amazon would sell them directly if they were.

Nice one, sugarman. Thought they were legit alright.

Mine haven't arrived, but a friend of mine was saying last night that he always finds Caterpillar boots/footwear to be very uncomfortable. Says he has had a few pairs (Don't know why he kept buying them). So maybe it is normal.

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 12,781 Mod ✭✭✭✭Zascar

I went into a shot repair shop and bought some sticky padded things and put them at the back of the heel where it is very hard. Have not hurt me since!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,381 ✭✭✭✭Allyall

I guess i'll be doing the same. I wonder is that why they're a size larger than normal footwear.
