I think its shown too early these days. I preferred when it used to be on in the second week of December.

2nd week in December doesn't give the parents much time to buy any of the toys shown tho.

Someone has obviously misinformed you, Santa brings presents to all the good children, why would parents need to buy anything?

I am hoping my kids believe for as long as possible because it makes Christmas such a cheap time of the year.

I dont find it tedious. i looked forward to it with my kid and she points out what she loves and it gives me ideas on what santy will bring her.
we certainly never found it tedious. Evereone is different though and entitled to their opinions

I just hope Tubs gives the kids a chance to speak this year - last year it was all so rushed it looked as if the kids were just props and as if Tubs was supposed to be the star of the show. Everything seemed to be rehearsed and not spontaneous at all. Ryan kept making slick comments and asides and jokes at the kids' expense. There seemed to be too many toys and too much going on and none of the simplicity and fun that the Toy Show used to bring in the good ol' days!

im not defending tubs , but he is certainly alot better than plank, in fairness to the guy he is good in dealing with kids because they are hard to deal with because they will put a presenter on the spur of the moment kind of answer

Found him quite rushed as the previous poster said and from the way he's going on on the radio I expect it to be more of the same. If they could drop a few toys and let it flow with the kids it would be far more enjoyable.

..oh and less singing and dancing. .damn billy barry kids taking all the toy time!!

It is all rehearsed, much more so than when GB or PK were doing it. Tubbins even takes a day off from the radio show. Agreed that the fun of a child doing something funny or unexpected is gone. That bit where the boy said "Nil" and drove off was so rehearsed. It has gone like the X Factor and other reality tv. Tubridy revels in boyband nonsense though doesn't he?

The fact that he makes such a big deal of the Toy Show during the recession shows how much empathy the man has. It is putting massive pressure on parents to buy the most expensive toys and is pushing people into the arms of moneylenders who are charging over 100 per cent interest. There is an advert on RTE saying that it was his dream to host the Toy Show since he was a young boy and in the Indo this week he says that he "has been quietly campaigning for a Mary Poppins theme for years". Since this is his apotheosis, could he please leave RTE after the show's conclusion.

Ah come on now we all know the toy show is essentially like watching a cringe worthy primary school play with the awful dancing etc with a few toys thrown in.

    Lets face it... It's awful.

Do I still watch it.... Yes. Hangs head in shame.

Somewhat ironically, I'll be missing the first half go see a cringey school play! :o

There is waaaay to many musical acts in the toy show .

It's called the toy show not tops of the parish show.

    I want more toys.

I actually think Ryan is brilliant on the Toy Show, he's good with kids but he also makes it funny for adults. I think some people are taking it far too seriously! I'm looking forward to it.

According to RTE The Late Late Toy Show will be screened live to Irish expats abroad online via the RTE Player.

    http://www.independent.ie/entertainment/late-late-toy-show-to-be-streamed-live-for-expats-abroad-29786655.html

The good thing is that if people here or abroad miss it on the night they will watch it the next day on the Player. Another good thing is that the show won't be geo-blocked in any other country either.

I cannot wait for the show anyway as it is going to be a Mary Poppins themed show as Tubs will be dressed up as Bert the chimney sweep.

I'm looking forward to seeing that young fella who is going to co-host a part of the show with him. Did anyone hear him on the phone last Friday night when Ryan told him? His reply was 'God bless you Ryan', little dote

My little fella was in at the pre-recorded bit for the small kids this evening. My wife brought him in, said Tubs was fantastic with all the kids. It was a massive treat for them. The little man has gone to bed buzzing! To be fair to RTE they really looked after the kids.

Can't wait to see tomorrow night if he gets his head on screen!

    To Whom IT May Concern

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

Tonight is the one of busiest nights of the year for the Television forum!!!

The Late Late Toy Show is a fast moving thread which attracts a huge following (1547 posts in 2012 and over 1700 posts in 2011).

So with this in mind the Television Moderators would like to remind everyone of the charter:

All the usual Boards.ie rules also apply.

Finally, whether you're a LLS thread regular or a new poster, we hope you enjoy tonight's show. The Toy Show thread is always soooooooooooooooooooooo entertaining :)

Someone in our family, can't remember who exactly, used to call it The Toy Toy Show as a child. We all started referring to it as that and there was a couple of times where I said to a non-family member something along the lines of:

"The Toy Toy show is on soon isn't it?"
    Them :

I thought that was on this morning? Anyway it pales in comparison to RTE's long running effort!

Count me in! My speciality is Tubridy Treducing, and I'm sure tonight will give me plenty of material. I'll get the ball rolling with: someone please tell him that SARCASM DOESN'T WORK WITH NERVOUS CHILDREN!!!

AH is trying to usurp the TV forum's glory by having their own thread and insisting it is the cool one.

It's like tv3 daring to put on their version of the toy show.

I can't wait for it! Most of the gang in work are looking forward to it too, often came up in conversation today. Bath after the soaps, then it's on with the comfy pj's & fleecy throw.
Wine is chilling right now and a stash of goodies on standby! :D
Hope all here on the thread enjoy it! :)
I predict lots of classic comments, as ever! ;)

    Wooohooooo! 2 Hours!!

    Later peeps!

Tubs love him some recession downers.

Last year was particularly recessiony. This year will be no different.

The slutty doll one is a definite too.

I think this is a fairly poor copy attempt of the Late Late Show.

It was fairly inoffensive until they went from the little boys with their cool tablets with a plethora of educational games to a (literal) corner where the girls were minding dolls, preparing for motherhood.

    Nice.

    Nice.

And at the same time, Alan Hughes's accent suddenly morphed into a strong Dublin one...

I actually quite like him and he's not doing a bad job but with no studio audience, there's no atmosphere.
