Get help whenever and wherever you can find it. Don't get upset when some help is not what you need. Keep trying, and don't give up.

I had depression when I was a teenager, some doctors were useless. Tried different medications over the years, could write a book etc.

35 years on, happily married 25 years now, 2 fabulous grown up sons. Still on some medication, but no problem with that. Will keep taking it, and keep in touch with my doctor regularly.

If you told me when I was 15 that my life would turn out ok, I would NOT have believed you!!

Lots of ups and downs in life, bad times don't last for ever. Take each day on its own, and just accept that things can change. There is help out there now that was not there 35 years ago.

Best of luck, I don't mean to make it sound easy, but things are not as hopeless as you think now.

    Lots of love xxx

I am no expert, but your friend sounds like a sensitive person, in the best possible way. She feels empathy for other people, and feels sorry for them. I would often shed tears listening to the news some days, and I would feel like crying passing a funeral, even when I don't know anyone there! But we are all very different, and what would affect some, might not bother others. I must say though that there is a lot of good in the world too, even though you don't always see it.

I would say the first thing to do is to find a sympathetic GP, who would be able to diagnose if your friend has depression, I wouldn't be qualified to advise anyone. I can only tell you my experience, but everyone is completely different, and you should get proper profession advice, and give it time.

Your friend is very lucky to have you to confide in. I have a few friends since school, and they have been invaluable, because I don't have to explain myself to them. They just accept me as I am , ups and downs and all!

    Good luck x

Hey everyone, right so this is our mission, I'm trying to find a polish psychologist/psychotherapist either in Carlow county or within a 30min drive, or some online support that has polish therapists. I've hit a wall here and it's getting pretty annoying being redirected to the same sites for therapy in Poland (which obviously is no good to me here) Any and all help would be much appreciated.

Good luck and thanks for your time

    Hi
This is a bit away from carlow but if you need a polish speaking therapist, there is a really good, experienced Counselling Psychologist based in Dublin city in the Dublin Gestalt Centre,
Give them a call, Im sure you will find a number online.
    Good Luck.
