Can't remove table support bar

    Greetings,
I bought a Microplus 600 earlier this year, and plan on doing a some work on her over the winter. One thing that needs doing is getting the bar for the table in the front cabin out of the floor. It's a chromed bar that is stuck solid in it's base. Can anyone offer any advice on how to get it out?
I've tried spraying copius amounts of wd 40 around the base and down into the hollow. I've tried heating it at the base with a blow torch. I've even drilled through the bar to allow me to slide an iron bar through for better torque when trying to twist it out, but it won't budge.
Does anyone know the mechanics of this bar, is the female part like one big cup fixed into the floor? I'm worried that if I twist too hard that I'll break the whole thing away from the structure.
I'm completely new to boating and don't know anything about how the boat is constructed, but it has a centre cockpit which has probably been left uncovered for years and the bilge tends to fill up with rainwater to the point that it seeps up into the front cabin, so I'm assuming that this over the years has a lot to do with the bar being stuck.

Any advice/thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Hi fergal.b, thanks. I'm 90% sure it is, I'll have to climb under the tarp and look when I get home

Some of them have a small allen key locking screw to hold them in place some are tapered and some screw in. You could try tapping it from side to side failing that try and remove the lot base and all and if you still can't separate them maybe buy a new one they are not that dear on ebay http://www.ebay.com/bhp/boat-table-pedestal

Or you could go to a marine, camper van shop http://www.chmarine.com/acatalog/Tables-boat-online.html

Thanks again for your help with this. I didn't get a chance to check as I was home late, but I have tried tapping it. Now that I've engaged the brain, I remember when I did this the base was moving slightly so I stopped in case I caused damage. From memory the base is riveted to the floor, how would I remove the rivets if I was to replace the whole thing.

Use a drill bit just a bit bigger than the hole in the middle of the rivet, you don't have to push it all the way through just enough to cut off the head.
