The boyfriend has said he'd like Kettlebells for the upcoming present giving season. He does a lot of bootcamp and running and cycling and is very fit but I'm not sure what to get weight wise.

He said he'd like 2 of the same weight but i was thinking you rarelly use 2 kettle bells at once and thus it would be better to get 2 different weights to allow for a broader range of exercising?!

Also any suggestions where to get them welcomed!

    thanks

It's very rare when someone tells you exactly what they want as a present. If he uses kettlebells during the bootcamps then ask him what weight bells he wants and then get him 2 of this weight. You can always get him a heavier kettlebell for his Birthday and then a heavier one for next Christmas and repeat this forever solving all future present quires.

The competition bells that Hanley mentioned are the best ones to get as all the different weights are the same size and this makes it a lot easier when progressing onto heavier bells.

    I'd go with 16 and 24 too.
I'd be surprised if there was a proper reason for him wanting two the same. (like doing double cleans)

He told you he wanted kettlebells. He told you he wanted two of them.
He told you he wanted two the same weight. He didnt tell you what weight.
    Very strange.
Why not just ask him. The surprise is gone anyway as he knows what he is getting.
There is a chance a 24 could be too heavy. He could be very fit but light. He could probably swing a 24 but not do anything else. Maybe hes a beast and can juggle 28s. You wont know till you ask.
Most men wouldnt want to admit to using a 12 but they can be great for 8 minute plus swinging or Turkish Get Ups. Get Ups with a 16 would be too tough for most beginners. (not that hes a beginner)

+1, I got competition ones from them and they are great. Much better off with the competition ones as the size does not change with the weight. D8 delivered to me in no time at all and the price is reasonable.

What kg kettlebell from D8 Fitness would you recommend for a girl? I can manage 12kg alright but because they're about €30 quid each I want to invest in one with I can use regularly and see results, rather than invest in one which is too heavy and I can only manage a few reps?

    What's it for?

    Definition and to drop bodyfat.

    Kettlebell swings, squats etc. :)

    Impossible to say online unfortunately.

I've guys swinging 12kg, and girls swinging 2x 24kg'ers. Depends on the person, their experience and coaching.

Usually the next one up is a safe option.

If you want to make squats/presses/rows harder, then just do the down phase slower.

Does D8 or any other supplier offer a trade up option? Where you can trade your current Kettlebell along with some cash to get the next size. Would be a great option for people.

Doubt it... KBs are pretty cheap relatively speaking, the margins aren't huge and they look crap after they used a bit.

Worth asking tho, and keeping an eye on adverts.ie etc.

Thanks for all the advice everyone, think i'll have to talk to him a bit more about them but maybe an element of surprise would be good with different ones :)
