Am looking for something nice in White...

Am toying with the idea and splashing out for Christmas and getting the stunning IWC Portuguese...

Also was looking at an Omega BA

    Obviously I missed Cyrus Zenith

It needs to be 42mm at least

    Opinions...

Ohhhh the Portuguese. So the Portuguese. :)

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I'm a big fan of white dials myself, and currently have 2 - a Tag Aquaracer and Jean Richard TV Screen. I love the Portugese too, but recently saw a similar Hamilton on tz-uk that was even nicer and a tenth of the price.
Also have a look at the Zenith Elite RDM, they have a beautiful textured dial and are 44mm. I had one and it was absolutely gorgeous.

to me the portuguese is the nicest white watch ive owned and ive had a few, santos 100 xl (also really nice), zenith striking 10th, rolex explorer 2 42mm (this was the whitest white dial of them all, sportier than the rest)

The hamiltons that BMF mentioned are very nice at a fraction of the price too :)

or a Dornbluth for someting i the middle and bespoke ish?

    Saw the Hamilton....

I really like it, but would folks consider it a knock off of the IWC

Will look at the others mentioned

I think this is a lovely looking watch, but for some reason I can't put my finger on, I just can't warm to the brand itself.

Think I saw one for under 1K on TZUK a while ago.

I know it's only 41mm, but I'd imagine it wears big.
    Stowa MO

You can have it within 3/12 and wear it while you're waiting for the Dornblüth for the next year:D

The Portuguese really is a classic ....

if you're after something more sporty, how about this:

    D001.414.16.031.00.png

Union Glashuette "Viro"; diameter 43 mm

or ...a different classic ...the new 42 mm version of the Strela (with the last of the Poljot 3133 handwind movements)

Also Junghans do some nice white dial watches, and the Longines Master collection has some nice pieces too.

I'd really like a White face with Blue hands, not a chronograph, just something nice, simple and classy but the likes of the Stowa is way above my budget and also ideally with a stainless steel or shiny mesh strap.
I have a few Eco-Drives, Seiko Solars and the next step might just be a windy up one?
Any ideas? The Parnis can be hit and miss I believe and they seem too cheap to be good quality and something that I could keep for a good few years.

Here you go: white face, blue hands, windy-uppy, great quality & value for money:

Or a smaller automatic one with a simpler face

You can get a nice enough mesh bracelet on eBay for about 30 quid, if you don't like the leather.

It's not "Glashuette Original" if that's what you mean ...doesn't cost as much either :D

Union is one of the many traditional watchmaking companies / brands from Glashuette that has been resurrected after the end of the socialist reign.

Union is owned by the Swatch group and works with ETA movements. These are tuned up a bit in Glashuette (the actual place just south of Dresden) and hence they have the right to carry the "Glashuette" bit in their name.

    EDIT:
The one in your pic above ...nice alright but personally I'm not a fan of date hands instead of date windows ...but that's just me

Tissot PRC200 Chronograph, I got one recently and really like it (My first "proper" watch).
(This is the older model so there are good deals on this at the moment, also I think it looks nicer than the new "facelifted" model).

I find glacier white watches can look a tad severe. I have one of these worn mostly on a grey croco strap (occasionally brown constrast stitch strap) and love it. Good value for the quality.

Interesting. I am exactly the same myself. Feel like I should be all over these watches but just don't like them for a reason I, likewise, have not yet managed to figure out precisely.

And also really like that white faced Steinhart! :)

Just threw that one in for the craic! Came across the watch on the watch section on Pistonheads. Interesting story about a guy who has developed and is selling his own watches with Valjoux movements!

Well...here it is, My Steinhart Grand Prix Limited Edition

Tks...I really liked the look of that, then again being a philistine I know nothing of what golden rules of watch design it may be driving a coach and four through!

Very nice, and the first Steinhart I've seen that I really like. Too many of their offerings are blatant copies of other companies, but this is very nice. Enjoy!

Sorry just seeing it now - its very clear - the dial is sparse and nicely balanced.

Will stick up some wrist shots over the weekend anyway.
