Knowhow Cloud

I just bought a laptop recently and I've been getting emails to setup my Knowhow account. I didn't specifically buy and cloud storage so it must have come with the laptop or was included in the warranty.
When I was setting the account up the site asked me to give my credit card details and said I'd have to pay 40 euros in a years time. Chances are I'll forget about this and I don't particularly need cloud storage at the moment.
Is knowhow cloud worth registering for? What're your opinions on it?

its a PCWorld / Curry's customer support application. Not really "cloud"... more "marketing thought cloud was a good buzzword so we'll sell our online services as that".

as to whether it is good or not...how long is a piece of string. If you know how to setup and maintain a computer then you wont get much out of it (unless you are looking for support on the use of an iron!) except maybe the online backup service - but that could be cheaper elsewhere and you have to remember to watch any bandwidth caps you have from your ISP.

so, not really a cloud question but I can see why you would think so. You might be better off asking in the general computers forums HERE

If I remember correctly, it's a white-label version of livedrive.com. Cloud backup with a mobile app and a KnowHow sticker on the front.

So its customer support as well as cloud storage?

KnowHow is their 'customer support', KnowHow cloud is their online backup solution.

You don't have to use the backup solution to get support though.

I paid for a year subscription with 1TB storage,
Again they made me enter credit card details for automatic renewal after the first 12 months,
Literally after I registered the credit card details to create the account, I deleted them off it.

It is livedrive rebranded by PC World/Currys,
is it good? Depends on what you want it for.
Upload times are extremely slow so the 1TB storage is fairly useless, reason being if you tried to backup a .avi file for example that was around 1.2GB, it would take around 2 hours and would probably fail have way through.

I used it for college work, but only ever reached 2.5GB, hence the reason I never renewed and just use skydrive and dropbox now.

all these type's of bloat/crapware should be uninstalled the minute you open a new windows laptop, first job before you update, delete all the pre-installed gank. Unnecessary software that preys on the folks that haven't a clue and get out the cc with out realizing what they are buying or looking at
