God is indescribable, I encountered God when my spirit left my body for a few minutes.

He came to me surrounded by an armada of angels. I could not look at his being as there was a thick cloud between him and I. I say thick cloud but it was not in fact a cloud it was just like a thick cloud.

The reason for the cloud was because if I looked on God I would die instantly.

I asked him hundreds of questions and he dismissed them all as folly. Man made nonsense that has no meaning at all. The only thing that matters in life is that I follow him through his Son Jesus and stay on the Good side of life.

He told me not to leave my body again or I could die and he told me blessed are those who believe without seeing.

I insisted on him answering some of my questions and his answers that he gave me can actually be found in the Book of Job in the bible.

I had not read the book at the time on my encounter.

In fact God answers anyone who questions his morality or his reasons for doing things through the book book of Job.

Ok Terrlock. I was beginning to suspect as much. I feel that you have been through some properly traumatic experiences, or you wouldn't be opening up so much (in quite extreme religious language, that we wouldn't be used to here) on this forum. In fact, I'm not sure that it's wise to continue telling everyone about your private experience of god, even if spreading the word is something that seems necessary. Maybe pull back a bit, eh?

Mind yourself (and perhaps contain yourself) hon.

    I'm out.

"Because I'm in charge, now just do what I say" isn't good advice. It's terrible. I'm sorry if you had some traumatic event in your life that led you down this path, but don't be surprised when the rest of the world doesn't play along to keep you happy.

Do as I say or I will drown you and all belong to you even the animals and then roast you in Hell for eternity is not my idea of 'good' anything.

If I knew of an actual parent acting like that I would personally call social services.

Do you follow an existing faith or do you believe you've a unique insight into how god should be followed?

BTW, bad choice with the book of Job, you couldn't have picked a worse section. If this god exists he deserves to be hated, never mind adored.

I assume what you're doing here is equating god with a good parent. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Otherwise, explain to me how someone only communicating with most of their children by way of books left lying around which were written by their select few favourite children, which largely consist of advice such as 'do as I say or I'll kill you' is good parenting. Those kids gon' have some issues.

Obviously people were tougher in them days, you had to exterminate whole cities or torment a man to emotional collapse to teach them a lesson. :pac:

Shouldn't you really be telling this story in the christianity forum-or is this your way of trying to convert or "save" us??

Can I ask what your opinion is of the Phelps family in America?
I shouldn't really hold out for an answer seeing that neither you or JC have answered any of my questions

They certainly don't represent me or any orthodox branch of Christianity, that I'm aware of.

... and they seem to have forgotten the injunction to love our neighbour as ourselves.

How can someone be hostile to an idea of something? Would it be possible for me to be hostile to Harry Potter? Could I be negative about Alice because she got to go to wonderland and I didn't? Would Tom Sawyer care if I called him an idiot?

Did you really claim atheists were responsible for Columbine? What about 9-11 and Sandy Hook? Any thoughts on why your "God" would allow these things to happen?

And we've exhaustively provided links and evidence as to why such open mockery is justified. And let's be perfectly honest, your ignorant posts about whatever you seem to think constitutes science don't help your case. How many more times do you want to do this, J C?

God is a perfect parent ... He gave us life, gives us all of the good things in life and the freedom to enjoy them. He loves us to the point of indulgence, gives us fatherly advice on how to do good and avoid evil ... and when we die He will give anyone who asks, perfect bliss for eternity.

He is a wonderful God and an amazing parent.

Darwin had no problem having sex with his grandfather's grandaughter ... just one degree of consanguinity beyond his sister ... and having children with health problems, as a result.

Actually Darwin did have serious regrets for the possible defects he was passing onto his children, due to marrying a close relative.

As the man who gave the world the Theory of Evolution, he knew full well that inbreeding was risky in health terms, unlike say, the Hapsburg family who followed biblical teaching* and ended up with Carlos II, a man so physically and mentally frail that it would be easier to ennumerate the problems he didn't have than he did have.

    * Many passages within the bible describe incest (up to the level of father and daughter) as a-ok.

A parent that essentially drowns his kids in a bathtub is a contemptible creature such as God did with those he killed in the flood.
