Any interest in a new one?

I'll give it a go if the theme suits me.

I'm happy to help run it. Any ideas for a theme?

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,731 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

    Let IO pick it.

Or else tell the backstory of a Muppet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 62 ✭✭Leafonthewind

IO is a poet so why don't we use a poem? With each of us getting a line or two (or more) as a prompt for our story.

    Go on, shur!

Why is the thought of writing Muppet fan fiction so appealing to me? I have so many ideas!

Would there be a battle to get Animal?

Don't limit it to backstory..... post-Muppet Show has so much potential too.
Widen the net to include Sesame Street and Fraggle Rock too!

    Muppets it is, so :)

Backstory or post-Muppet Show story, up to 2000 words, submit by midnight on Wednesday 4th.
Sesame Street and Fraggle Rock also included.

    Sound good?

I'd love to take part but I know nothing about muppets or any other puppet show, so that topic means I'm out :(

Sure I haven't a notion either - you could read one of these muppet wiki pages
    http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Count_von_Count
and write a story about the count and how his ocd -symptom counting- traumatised him his whole life :pac:

You can't give up that easily. I can't remember much about them either but I'm willing to do some research and give it a go. It is fiction.
Are we confined to characters from the show or can we write about one of the many muppets we encounter in real life?:)

Oscar, Gonzo and Animal have to be the pick of the bunch. Although Piggy's adventures in Space and Hospital hold a certain appeal.

I have a bit of a thing for Beaker.

    The dialogue will suck though.

"Me me me me me me", exclaimed Beaker. "Me me me me me. ME ME ME ME ME."
Beaker was angry, and it showed.

Oh - so much fun! Will it have it's own official thread now? Who do we send our entries to?

    Damn yoooooou!

Are we just going to keep it to ourselves, to hell with the consequences!

I have some back up ideas, Oryx, so I'll abandon Beaker.

Camilla and Gonzo's marital strife. Camilla wants an egg and Gonzo can't provide it.

The 'Swedish' Chef's battle with Cerebral Palsy is Booker Prize material.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 62 ✭✭Leafonthewind

I was going for Beaker, too. His rendition of Feelings is so, so sad. There's obviously some emotional baggage there. But hey, plenty of Muppets in the sea!

Hey i wonder what that chef might have been keeping in his freezer?

Come on, we've all read Stieg Larsson....we know what them Swedes are really like...

It's still a bit floaty I think. No confirmation of entries.
If you're on board, thank this post (just to gauge interest).

Let's say midnight on Sunday 8th now (just under 2 weeks), up to 2000 words.

    Who is in?

  • Posts: 0 CMod ✭✭✭✭ Raven Flaky Velour

oh right we're really doing it
    I better get cracking so

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,731 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

    Make a fancy thread
    People dig fancy threads

Jesus don't strain yourself there, picka. :D

    Done. :)

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,731 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

Honestly, I tried to create a thread with links and things from the mobile interface but it was more hassle than writing a novel!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Tongue firmly in cheek..... no offence intended. :)
