I have just discovered in the last year that beer at room temperature is far nicer than cold beer. The taste on the tongue is amazing.

Before you disregard this advice and tell me "your drunk OP go to bed", give it a try.

Anybody else agree? Or am I the last to know this?

It's even better if you stick a poker in the fire til it's red hot, then stick it in the beer.

Put in some warm ice with the beer so it dosent go cold.

Depends on the beer. Cans of Bud and similar are best served as cold as possible to mask the taste. A decent stout or porter is better served 8-12 degrees I find.

You have finally discovered decent beer. Ale is normally served at a warmer temperature than lager.

I'm honestly not a beer snob, but if one tastes bad at room temperature there's no reason to be drinking it chilled

My point is you really don't get much of a taste if beer is chilled.

I was recently in the UK with my girlfriend's family and I got a thorough beer lesson from her uncle. I already avoid lager and drink a lot of ales, but everything here is served cold, so I, in turn have chilled everything.

Over there, they drink pretty much everything at room temperature. I balked at this at first, but her uncle spent the day ploughing me with bottle after bottle of different ales and stouts, all room temperature, and all completely delicious. It culminated with a 12 year old vintage ale, which was one of the nicest things I've ever drunk.

Yeah, I know. It's like eating cold beans from a tin.. all you know is that you're eating beans =p

I like beers that I can drink at room temp.. wouldn't drink anything if it depended on being refrigerated first.

10 - 16 degrees for ale and around 7 degrees for lager.

    (I think)

I am not sure what temperature it is. I picked it up in the local this evening about six and its sitting on the kitchen table. The temp in the room is aprox. 16 to 18 degrees.

Trust me, they don't have an important message. Lies and deceit is what they preach. All nice to your face but when you're in prepare to have every shred of self worth taken from you.

    Anyway warm beer, yuk!

Normally that muck is served as cold as possible to hide the taste.

Few* bottles of Guinness Foreign Extra. Leave them out of the fridge for two hours or so. Beautiful stuff.

    Fyne Ales Jarl

Jaipur is far and away one of the best ales I've had, but their others are spectacular as well. Halcyon, Raven and Kipling are ones to look out for ;)

Almost forgot, anyone into their darker stuff, I would highly recommend Nøgne ø Porter, and the 8 Wired Big Smoke, though they're expensive. The nøgne is like drinking a Christmas pudding it's so rich ;)

It's even better if you stick a poker in the fire til it's red hot, then stick it in the beer.

My grandfather used to do that. And put sugar in his beer.

When I was about six I used to crawl around the back of the chair and swig it.

He used to get free pints at work as well, he was a glassblower, and the blowing chair was always given three pints a day to stop them getting dehydrated.
