I'm thinking about getting saorview because frankly UPC and Sky are crap - there's nothing ever on! I live in an apartment complex so can't have a dish - are there saorview boxes that don't require a dish?

All you need with a Soarview box is an aerial, UHF if I recall correctly. You only need a dish if your getting Free Sat channels.

Saorview is very limited channels-wise: RTE, TV3, TG4 & their offshoots. No UK channels.

If Sky is available in your apartment, there must be a connection there from a dish 'master antenna' that might be available for free-to-air satellite channels. Depends who has control of the distribution system.

Saorview won't give you anything (apart from the news channel) that you don't already get on UPC or Sky. Only RTE1, RTE2, TV3, TG4, e3, news now, plus part time kids programme /RTE+1. Oh, and the radio programmes;)
