    Ah heyor!

But in all fairness I come across these from day to day and usually the reasoning is

    Chape on tax

    More economic to run (apparently)

Don't have to look after it

Tis the style to have one

I've yet to meet someone who goes, I do 70k+ a year what diesel should i get? I nearly did it but yeah look how that turned out :pac::pac::pac:

I just consider a diesel to be a nicer drive to a petrol. :)

Fair enough, maybe a 406 would fit the bill then? Comfy as hell so they are

Well unless your getting a 1.7 corsa 1.9's are the bread and butter of diesel cars, unless its one of those weedy 1.3 things?

Tbf, You have a good point.. You've given me a lot to think about.. :)

Also do you reckon that a diesel CAR would cope better with the mileage then a petrol CAR?

I don't mean to sound like a bollocks but that's the truth of it, 1.9s are the backbone :)

I had a 1.4 astra and done close to 80K in it and the biggest thing to go in it was the power steering, so it depends on the car :)

To be honest depends on what your really have budget wise.

Personally I'd go no smaller then a 1.9 diesel. Have driven a few 1.6 and just didn't like them as much

As for petrol bigger engines will handle milea better as they don't have to try as hard to get up to speed.

Not much of a budget yet, just thinking about it.

Ah right okay, if you were to pick a Diesel car and petrol car for that milage, what would it be? Keeping in mind that, your trying to save a few pennys..

Performance isn't really a must, as it would be my first car. :)

Oh right first car changes things IMO.

I'd go with something small, micra/corsa/fiesta, sized car to get experience and insurance no claims up with them sorted, then move towards your more desired car/engine.

Wouldn't be worried about the petrol diesel debate just yet!!

I used to do similar mileage to you when I bought my first car and I went with a corolla 1.4 petrol. Was cheap but bland motoring.

Not sure what you mean here?
The EK4 is 3 stage VTEC b16, anything below that was crappy VTEC 1.5 as far as I know.
VTI is one for the English cars.

Open to correction, I'm not the best at Hondas.

The ek4 was the JDM ek4 and is not a 3 stage the only 3 stage was the JDM 1.5 vti
    JDM civics

The uk spec vti is at the bottom of this list.

Funny thing happened yesterday I was parking yesterday and a lad turns around and said that my engine sounded nice. I replied by saying what I couldn't believe what he had just said :pac:

Hey don't you be talking down them 1.3's :pac: there a nice engine very reliable :) in all seriousness though I know they won't win any races but there not that bad and when comparing them to the equivalent 1.4 astra or focus petrol then they are like a rocket id rather the 1.3 anyday than some 1.4 petrol screaming at me everytime I go over 60mph.

Im probably having a serious simple moment here - but the CRX version of the 87 to 92 Civic - did the last of those have a Vtec engine.

Or did I just dream reading that somewhere

I've come to realise I need a sat nav.

This week I was working in Armagh, Newtownards, and Letterkenny.

Halfords currently have this online deal

    http://www.halfords.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_11101_catalogId_15551_productId_905167_langId_-1_categoryId_212513?cm_re=StaticMains-_-main-_-navman416

Lifetime updates, lane guidance (which I need in Belfast)

    Any got one of these?

Could anyone link me to a good Porsche 996 buying guide? I'm having trouble finding a clear, direct and informative one :(
