What was your favourite decade for music?

So starting from the 1950s to the present day, if you could pick a decade which you considered you favourite, what would it be?

I had to include the 2010s just so we're quite a bit into it now. I know some people may have their tastes over two different decades (infact most people probably do) but the point of this poll is that if you had a choice to listen any musical output from one defined musical decade, what would it be?

I like a mixture of stuff so I am undecided. But what do you all think? What would be your overall favourite?

1990s for me, jungle, uk garage, techno, house, hip hop.

Whilst I know most of those started in the 80s, they took off in the 90s

1980,s for chart radio friendly music

the best decade for classic tunes was probably the 1970,s

every decade has been good bar the noughties which has been particulary awful for mainstream music

dance became mainstream in the nineties , it was cool in the eighties , its beyond awful today

hip hop only became really mainstream in the noughties and was cool until the end of the nineties

most pop music has hip hop influences in it nowadays

The 80's are the new 60's.

At the time 'The New Romantics' were like, 'oh my god, why can't we have a proper generational 'thing', you know, like 'The Mods' or 'The Rockers', now it's like, 'Yeah, those shoulder pads were cool', and 'what's wrong with eye-liner on men?'

Yeah, can't beat a bit of the '80s.

hmmmm.....hard to pick just one decade....

I'd have to go with the 70's though.

Joplin, Hendrix, Doors, Skynyrd, Clapton, Zeppelin, Queen, AC/DC

actually just thinking about it maybe it's not quite so hard to pick a decade

    P.S.

as an afterthought, it'd be interesting to see the responses paired to the age of the poster responding

The 80's every time.. though I have a fair bit of 70s stuff too. Some 90s and more recent stuff but to be honest I don't even listen to music on the radio anymore .. all the X-factor/Katy Perry type stuff does nothing for me.

    Late 30s myself

90's definitely in terms of Hip Hop. The first half or so of the 00's was great too. Very hard to look past the 90's. It had everything you'd want.

I remember in the 90's when everyone hated the 80's then it became cool in the 00's to like the 80's because everyone hated the 80's

70s for sure. So much epic funk, jazz, soul and rock. People were not afraid to try new things and the music 'industry' had not fully formed into the pop machine it would eventually become in the 80s. Labels and A&Rs took chances on groups and artists who were doing new, experimental and exciting things. It wasn't manufactured to sell publishing rights. You didn't have to go triple platinum on your debut album to get a chance to do a follow up. Artists were encouraged to express themselves and explore new directions, building a following organically as they went.
Peace, Love, Harmony and all that.

I was aged 2-11 in the 80s and I still prefer it to the 90s, which mostly sucked.

In 1989 I loved Kylie, Jason, Sonia, Pixies, Morrissey, Stone Roses and The Cure. :pac:
