Hi ladies, anyone have any advice as to contraception to use after pregnancy, how long have you to wait, have to wait for period?etc. Preferably not the pill as I feel I may forget to take it.

As in you were pregnant and how are not?

Usually if you have had a miscarriage or a pregnancy or an abortion you get told to wait until your periods start again before starting any type of contraception.

If you can take hormonal contraception then there are types which are not the pill which you can use,
such as the implannon (bar in your arm lasts 3 years)
nuvaring (flexible ring you place in the vagina for 3 weeks and remove for a week to have a period,
contraceptive patch which you change every week and leave off for a week to have a period
or an IUS, is fitting in the womb and lasts for 5 years.

    Hi OP,
I'm afraid we can't give medical advice on boards. Best thing you can do is give your GP or hospital doctors a quick call, they'll have to prescribe any hormonal contraception anyway.
    Best of luck,
    Sauve.
