What are you paying now (since budget rise) for a pint of beer in the pub. I know it varies a lot between towns and rural area.

For me its €3.90 for Guinness and €4.20 for lager. Some rural pubs in the area are €3.60 for Guinness and €4.10 for lager.

€3 pints here in my part of Kildare on a Sunday, you can't beat that.

Why anyone would pay €5 a pint in a rip off shithole like Dublin is beyond me.

I'm back home on Thursday I'll see what's changed then. Chances are I'll stick to the pitchers of tuborg for ~€9 unless any of the locals have got in anything decent

Christ! No wonder I'm broke after a night on the lash.

5.20 in most pubs in Dublin (O'Neills, Brogans, Stags Head).

    Effing 6.20 in Gogarty's.

3 euros for a pint in kildare? I could get pleasantly pissed for a twenty.

I spend less then 20 odd when out. Tenner in and a few pints or shots.

Pre drinking naggins and cans FOR THE WIN!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 118 ✭✭JimFin

I paid €6.10 in gogarty's some weeks back, it was so over priced we just laughed at it and moved after one pint. Are they just trying to squeeze tourists for every single cent? No bloody wonder you could observe 5 yanks sitting around two pints for 3 hours!!!

Was in the brewdock near Connolly station a few days ago. I really like the pub, its food, and the selection of beer it serves; but I paid €7.20 for a bottle of Augustiner. Seven bloody twenty. And that's even 68ml short of a pint.

Fosters is a nice beer imo. Much nicer than the usual Carlsberg/Bud/Heineken anyway.

    5.60 here.

€4.45 in my local for a pint

Guinness in McSwiggans in Galway is €3.50, was €3 until recently

There's a pub in Cork I hear does a Fosters 'snackbox'. 4 pints for a tenner. You're given a pint and 3 tokens and can use them whenever. The Sportsmans on Barrack St.

4 euro in my local and 3 if there's a big game on the box not too bad.

The saloon that I periodically visit charges a very reasonable €7.95 per pint. Prices like this help to squeeze out riff raff, the common people.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 904 ✭✭✭Drakares

    €2 - €3 depending on what I'm drinking. I live in Germany.

My local is €4.80 for a Guinness and €5 for larger, some largers are €5.50 though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,754 ✭✭✭oldyouth

    €3.65 Tuborg & Carling
    €4 Guinness
    €4.35 other lagers

€4.60 in my local for a pint of Guinness. A fiver for lager, I think.

    €3.80/€3.90 for Guinness and Smithwicks
    €4/€4.10 for Lager

Free. I run a bar that gives away unlimited amounts of booze :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

Heineken 5.15, at least make it a fiver. End up with a quite a valuable pocket of change by the end of th night.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 420 ✭✭Paulie Gualtieri

Tennents on draught 3euro , no big sacrifice being a Heineken drinker imo , don't mind paying a bit more if I'm going on a proper night out , but 3/4 euro for a few casual pints is enough , when it starts getting into the 5/6 for a pint that's just silly.

also find it funny ( and I'm guilty of this myself at times ) , grocery shopping ....£4 for a pizza. ffs! robbin cnuts!

and you'd swallow a bottle of miller in a half hour for the same price and would bat an eyelid.

€3 pints in the local, cant beat it :)

I hope you're typing that in an accent.

Edit to add: I bought a bottle of whiskey on Friday too. It was €22 for a bottle of black bush. The same as 4 measures in a pub.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,264 ✭✭✭✭jester77

€2-€3 in most places here. But there are places with 99c beers and then there are the pretentious bars with €4+ beers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 116 ✭✭Aquagakka

I was in a city centre bar in Derry on Friday night. This place is across the road from a night club and is a 'feeder-bar' for it, for younger people.
There is also, in the same premises, a bar for older drinkers. When you want to order a drink you can go downstairs and order
a cheaper round and bring it back to the bar.

3 x Bottles of Coors (or any bottled beer on sale) and a small Magners = £6:00. (For the lot.)
Smirnoff and Coke = £3:00. It's astonishing compared to what is being written here.

It just shows how much they are buying it for when they can sell at these prices, all night, on a Friday.
