32 Sovereignty Movement. The Political wing of the RIRA, I don't get these people, do they turn a blind eye to the criminality or what? Can you imagine getting expelled from SF. Many showed out in force to honour RIRA man Alan Ryan at his funeral. One man who spoke on Duffy at the time compared Ryan to the 16 Martyrs. Wasn't there a Racketeering case about to be brought down on him before his murder?

Why bother with this nonsense anymore, Republicans already have a bad name down south.

Don't be surprised that criminals would turn a blind eye to criminality. They have convinced themselves that the end justify the means. And please don't call that rabble Republicans. They don't know the meaning of the word

Jack I'm not a troll I respect the nationalist movement, I myself would love to see Ireland united one day through peaceful means but I don't believe that will ever happen. The RIRA and 32CSM aren't respected down here, the RIRA are a criminal gang just like the UVF and the LVF are up North.

I agree there not seen as much else, but there is little to no evidence they are only in it for financial gain, it's very naive to say this, just look at the soldiers, psni, prison officers they have killed.

The media have done a great job of making people believe their only in it for the money.

But one thing is true, none of those acts will get us closer to a united Ireland.

A United Ireland is a side issue to many of these guys, they're in it for the short term financial gain. They draw the degenerates into their ranks. They abuse a noble cause and try and hide under it when the law catches up with them.

The media in Ireland tell it like it is as far as I'm concerned.

They (the real ira) made an excellent contribution to their dream of a "united" Ireland when they bombed and murdered 29 people in omagh in 1998.

Their victims included Spanish tourists, children and a woman pregnant with twins.

I mean if all else fails a huge bomb is always likely to unite people.

Aside from that I'm sure they a great bunch of lads who I simply wish a pox on all their houses.

Ryan ran one of the biggest protection rackets in the country, as well as shaking down local business's they'd extort drug dealers who operate in their areas. RIRA No Drugs policy yeah right.. All this was reported by multiple crime correspondents from a multitude of papers

He was killed when he made major demands from a number of Dublin drug gangs, a number of high ranking members came together and decided instead of paying out they'd kill him.

Nope not defending them just saying to think their in it for financial gain is naive and incorrect.

You will have to try harder than that.

I don't understand this contradictory behaviour.

Since you seem to want to avoid the issue i'll just assume your condemnation of violence is disingenuous then.

I would of thought someone who condemns these groups wouldn't care less if these groups are grouped with common criminals.

I agree. There media are just doing it because they want to run the drug business. It's all a huge conspiracy. Every single reporter is part of a sinister organisation who's only aim is to tell lies to the public. If it wasn't for the media we'd be living in a 32 county paradise.

That's far easier to believe than the 32 county blah blah are just a bunch of knackers with guns who want to swagger around and pretend they're actually important.

Jacksparrow, when anyone here talks ill of these groups you claim we are naive and it's a media conspiracy, yet you so easily dismiss any journalist who writes anything that could show these gangs in a bad light. Do you mind me asking where you are from?

Tis a bit naive of yourself to believe theses guys are involved in what they are solely for the purpose of achieving a United Ireland.

People, there is no republican movement anymore. They use it as a cover for their criminal activities. Half of them weren't even born when the republican movement is in full swing and have absolutely no clue about irish history because, let's face it, most of them are low life uneducated retards that really should have been aborted in early pregnancy. They are scum low life's that have no political or civilian backing or support.

Nobody said you're banned from condemning violence. It could be seen as odd or hypocritical though to condemn violence in some situations and yet be a member of an organisation that spreads violence around the world to protect British interests.

One's an official state army, the other a terrorist organization. It would be only hypocritical if the BA acted like the dissident groups but they don't. Besides if the BA ever did stuff like that i'd condemn them too.

Just another spoke of the republican movement. No real surprise when you hear about their involvement in drugs, protection rackets and so on. These kind of activities have been synonymous with Irish republicans for decades. Sooner or later they will upset the wrong drug gang and end up six foot under, just like Ryan. I won't shed any tears, once no genuinely innocent party is caught up in it.

Yes, ALL OF THEM are liars and exaggerators.

I don't trust something just because it's in a newspaper. I know how lazy some journos can be but it's idiocy to suggest that everyone reporting on this is exaggerating/lying just so they can sell a few more books. They're criminals who beat and kill people. Either way their lives are interesting enough to sell books.

Good thing the BA are squeaky clean then and haven't supplied arms to terrorist groups, killed civilians, trafficked heroin, etc.

The 32CSM and the Real IRA aren't mafia-like criminal conspiracies, however that doesn't mean there isn't a fairly hefty thuggish or criminal element within that grouping of people either, especially in the southern cities. While I've no doubt that most of their members are genuine about their beliefs (rightly or wrongly), I think it's a small bit disingenuous to suggest that that's the case across the board.

When they formed in 1997 the basic thinking of the group was inherently militaristic, i.e. an armed struggle waged by a clandestine group should be the priority tactic in perpetuity. Unfortunately when you adopt a "shoot first, ask questions later" type mentality it's easy to allow the calibre of your organisation to slip, something that happened pretty much straight away with the Real IRA in the late 90s and early 2000s. To this day the Real IRA's thinking operates along those lines, with a sort of token gesture toward the need to engage in actual working class politics in Ireland. Their militaristic thinking is now something along the lines of propaganda by the deed, i.e. jump out of the shadows and shoot a cop or a Brit every few years and hope it disturbs the political process. They have no coherent criticism or analysis about what's taking place in Ireland at the moment, never mind being in a position to suggest an alternative.

In my opinion their more unsavoury activities are locally-orientated but they have the effect of tarring the whole organisation and as was recently proved, if you go out to push on people who are armed to the teeth, they're going to shoot back at some stage. Personally I'm not convinced that the Ryan incident was a case of "anti-drugs activity" and was something else entirely. (As much as the 32s will disagree.)

To be honest the Real IRA and where they are now is an indictment on how physical force Republicanism offers nothing to Irish working people at present.

Just out of interst is anybody out there who is actually man enough to come out and support these type of cretins openly. I know I seem to see a few who skirt around the topic but let's face it, it is 2013.

No one even a rabid dissident Provo type can seriously think that a bombing/shooting campaign is going to work nowadays. Jaysus lads, get a grip of yourselves. The Brits out mantra is a bit crap tbh.
