Ulster travel to Wales to take on the Scarlets with both teams missing a number of senior players to international duty. Ulster are also missing key men Johann Muller and Iain Henderson to injuries picked up during last weeks win against the Cardiff Blues.

Despite the international players being missing Ulster have still managed to field a reasonably strong starting 15 players. Lewis Stevenson starts in the row, with Nick Williams reclaiming that number 8 spot that he held for all of last season, pushing Roger Wilson to flanker.

John Afoa takes back the tight head position as he continues to get himself back to match fitness after injury.

Ruan Pienaar shifts to outhalf to cover for Paddy Jackson, while Paul Marshall starts again at 9. Farell gets a start at 12 alongside Darren Cave who is reinstated to the starting 15 after last week.

Ulster's bench is perhaps not as strong as we are used to and it may be a concern if Ulster are chasing the game.

    Prediction
Ulster win but perhaps the weakened bench will put a TBP just out of reach.

Only had half an eye on the game but Ulster seem to be defending for their lives every time I check the game. How are they only 5 points down?

Isn't getting an opportunity to play really. A lot of kicking and defending from Ulster.

Pienaar at 10 never seems to go well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,805 ✭✭✭Swan Curry

    How did he miss that?

  • Administrators Posts: 54,895 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Pienaar misses one right in front of the posts!

  • Administrators Posts: 54,895 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

    11-6

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,805 ✭✭✭Swan Curry

Pienaar doesn't miss this time 11-6 to Scarlets.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,895 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

This game is dire. Too much useless kicking.

Ulster finally string a few good phases together and Pienaar throws an awful pass to the ground. He's been fairly disappointing so far.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,895 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

McKinney on for Marshall. Pienaar back to 9

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,257 ✭✭✭Hagz

Apparently the plan was to play Olding at 10 with Pienaar at 9.

Would have loved to see that.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,895 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

    McIlwaine on for Allen.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,895 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

    McIlwaine binned.

    Total disaster.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,805 ✭✭✭Swan Curry

Not sure about that card,McIlwaine didn't look like a tackler in that situation.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,895 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

    14-6. Terrible. Absolutely terrible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,973 ✭✭✭✭mfceiling

Williams was the tackler I think, thought McIlwaine turned it over fair and square but Rollaind thought different.

    Wilson binned.

    This is a disaster

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,973 ✭✭✭✭mfceiling

    Wilson?

That is quite possibly one of the stupidest fouls i've ever seen committed on a rugby field...

  • Administrators Posts: 54,895 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

This is the worst Ulster performance I've seen in a ages.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,805 ✭✭✭Swan Curry

At this point,I can only assume this Ulster team have made a group bet against themselves and are intent on getting their payout.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,632 ✭✭✭ssaye2

Poor from Ulster, another penalty against

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,973 ✭✭✭✭mfceiling
