    Americans shooting each other.
Only news because it's at an airport.

A major international airport. It would be global news, I think, if it was any major international airport.

The right one surely if it turned out they had a gun?

not if you're the TSA guy who gets shot.

But based on what i've heard about the TSA, in a case of Terrorist VS TSA i'd nearly side with the terrorist.

    Transit Security Agent

Ever been felt up or stripped down by one?

Is that who that was?, what was he doing in my local park though?

Another example of how this tragic situation could have been prevented if the "good guys" had more guns.

seemed to be confusion about number of gunmen

one of the witnesses was including cops as gunmen when counting..

    Well what do you expect?

I had a 93 year old Irish female relative stripped down to her underwear in JFK while travelling to Shannon.

    People hate the TSA.

Yeah. Its not like an actual human being, got shot (and died) or anything. Just focus on his line of work why don't you....

    No you do.
And celebrating a murder like that is just sick.

So because you had a family member suffer a moment of embarrassment it makes your comment ok? Of course people hate the TSA, but I'm not sure the workers are proud of what they have to do at the same time. National security is what they want to focus on at the end of the day

I'm not celebrating it, I just don't feel that sad about it.

Right now his or her status is wounded, not dead, btw.

    Equally as disgusting.

    National security?

Pay full and fair prices for your oil. Then you can talk about legitimate national security.

People get shot in the US everyday.

If you work in security, the military, or the police, it's a risk you take when take on the job.

I don't see the same outrage from posters here when US soldiers get killed, do I?

The self riteousness should hardly be surprising at this stage.

Not that odd to be honest. Most incidents of workplace violence are carried out by disgruntled or former employees rather than random psychos or robbers or whatever.

Like that former LA Cop who went on the rampage a couple of months ago.

Do you really think people expect a soldier and a TSA worker to have a similar level of risk on the job? You have a hell of a lot higher risk of being killed in a war you volunteered to join than discovering a terrorist suspect for example at an airport. I can't believe I'm even arguing this.

Yes, you are absolutely right, but I don't think this is typical of those scenarios. It appears he still is (if he's still alive) an employee, and the reports suggest that he didn't know the identity of the people who were shot.

Also, reports say he was wearing outdoor terrain camouflage, and a TSA uniform would have been the best camouflage for an airport. An insider with a point to prove could have done far more damage than this.

Will be interesting to see what transpires - obviously way too early to say.

Are US citizens allowed to bring their fire-arms when flying from state to state? Like stored in the luggage compartment or designated safe or something?

Strange to see why any Average Joe would see the necessity for being armed in an airport.

The TSA like some metropolitan police forces have become increaasingly militarised.

You don't think that if your job is to locate suicide vests, knives, etc that you cant expect a certain amount of risk in your job?

Yes. but I hardly think they'd expect a former worker to come in guns blazing. Not a usual job hazard in that line of work, nor any other right? There are risks you expect, and risks you don't because they are so rare (like in this case)

Nearly all airlines will transport a firearm if it's cased, even in Ireland. Ryanair won't because it messes up their turnaround times. It's just put into the hold.

I think what we can all expect now from this is some more and more airport security and metal detectors before you even enter the airport.

Probably more military presence in the airports also.

Thanks gunman for that. Good work asshole.

You would hardly expect that if you are murdered that so called reasonable civilized people would be rushing to their keyboards to post sneering remarks.

Yes, you can declare them and they fly in locked gun cases. We had a major alert recently at my local airport when a woman forget she had a handgun in a backpack and set off a terrorist incident.

Sorry but I really don't want the US emulating the ME.

I have traveled in and out and around the US on numerous occasions and never once had an issue with security.I always found them professional and courteous. I think it's a small price to pay for the reduction in the chance of being blown up on a airplane.
