May be wrong thread, if so mods please move. I'm usually in the Genealogy forum and was directed to the National Library of Ireland for old photos which I managed to track down ok as the NLI have several collections. However, I was wondering if any professional photographers here could tell me what happens to old photos not in the NLI taken by other photographers. Would they be destroyed when the photographer's shop/company closes down? Or would their family store the photos or plates away somewhere? I'd be talking around a hundred years ago.
