    This is horrible horrible news!!!

Something must be done, I think to start with we need to outlaw almond and olive growing and swap all of them for grapes, anything else that grows where grapes could grow should be outlawed.

    OMG OMG OMG

    Better start stock piling

Pouilly Fumé and a punnet of strawberries in a garden on a summer evening - best thing I've had this year.

I'd hate for the wine to run out. Didn't Jesus have a trick for sorting that out? :)

Yay. That means more price increases. Pretty soon it'll be a minimum of 15 quid to get a bottle of wine that won't double as a drain cleaner.

This story has troubled me greatly. In fact, I had to pour myself a very large glass of nero d'avola to come to terms with the shock of reading such potentially troubling news.

I'm sure some of the new world producers will continue to knock out bottles of uncouth rocket fuel for the masses, but there will always be a place for a more subtle and refined bottle of wine from France, and to a lesser extent, Italy.

Yeah I seen those grapes on Saturday.

Only 1.2Kg required for a bottle? Seems not much

This thread reminded me of one of my favorite films of all time, The Secret of Santa Vittoria, where the Italians hide the good wine from the occupying Germans during WWII and gave them local piddle. I imagine if this were to happen, you can guarantee the vineyard owners internationally would have the same policy. :D

I concede. Although I'm willing to bet Apple Pie Moonshine is a damn sight tastier.

A good bottle of wine really makes a meal. I'm not worried about the wine shortage at all. I live near hundreds of wineries and they stock pile the stuff every year.
