AV/AX on the 123

Back when the 123 was operated by WVs, if they needed a stand-in it was most likely an RV. Nowadays the route is predominantly operated by EVs with the odd VG thrown in. Is there any technical reason why AVs are so rare on the 123? I've seen one or two over the last few years but that's it.

I think it's to do with size. The AV/AXs are longer than the EVs, and the VGs are a bit shorter as well, as were the RVs, so they would have been better for going through the likes of James's Hospital, for example. I know there were some AVs on the 123 not long before the EVs came.

Also, when AV288-302 were delivered, they went on the 123 while the WVs were away for the Special Olympics (I could be wrong there), but they only lasted a very short while before going to C/Road.

The GT's are longer than the VG's but they still can be seen most days on the 123.

Thanks for that. I found this. :)

I have seen some GTs on the 123 alright, can't remember how many though.

There is usually one GT a day on the 123, based on observations.
