So bread and wheat and grains etc get quite a mixed response in the press; sometimes they are healthy other times they are to be avoided at all costs. Putting aside this, do you think wraps are healthy? I have tortilla plain wraps 4 times a week in work and usually it has a bit of mayo, lettuce, chicken pieces and some stuffing in it. Is this a healthy lunch food or is it advisable to restrict wraps? I need to lose about 2 stone and Im trying to clean up my diet so Im concentrating on the main meals and if there are better options out there for lunch, I would appreciate any advice. Im not 100% up on the ins and outs of nutrition.

    Thanks in advance. :D

Your trying to clean you your diet and loose weight therefore no.

Loose the wrap, stuffing and mayo.

Increase the chicken add some peppers, onions, olive oil, vinegar, ......

What are your other meals like?

My other meals are better now than they used to be. A typical breakfast would be porridge or organic yoghurt, dinner is lean meat like chicken or turkey, but I do still eat a fair bit of bread in sandwiches and toast and the odd treat like chocolate and crisps. I saw a show on RTE a while back that said wraps were much better for you than sandwiches, which is why I tend to have them now with healthy fillings.

From a weight-loss point of view, no its not good. It doesnt look it but the calories in one wrap could equal the bread in 5 slices of bread.

The chicken pieces, are they just chicken or are they breaded chicken pieces, effectively chicken nuggets? A chicken salad would be much more beneficial.

No one food will make or break it. You need to take a holistic approach to your diet over a longer period.

Your average wrap is ~200kcal, the same as approxiamtely two slices of bread. Where are you getting 5 from?

Wraps are pretty much just like a piece of white sliced pan that's been gone over with a rolling pin.

You could stick your usual fillings in a bowl with diced up iceberg or cabbage as an alternative filler. You can use the iceberg leave as a wrap too, but they often fall apart.

Wraps are not the best option for weight management.. because the wrap is like bread made of white flour..

You can make your own wrap with lettuce leaves.. no mayonnaise and prepare a healthy filling with tuna and vegetables..

are cornflour wraps also made of white flour?

Is the mercury in the tuna considered healthy? or is it on a list of banned substances somewhere?
