I don't get the comedy bit

Apparently thats meant to be funny. The bloke that makes that apparently earns thousands a month. All I see is a load of ****e. Am I missing something?
But when it comes to the internet, unless your surname is Zuckerberg or Page, for a lot of people making money starts and ends with sites like eBay.

Not for 20-year-old student Tom Ridgewell, who's one of a new generation of YouTube stars making thousands of pounds through the site every month.

"I like to think I work in comedy," he says.

"I just try to make funny videos really - ones that make me laugh."

He's written, produced and directed dozens of short films, sketches and cartoons.

But get onto his channel and it's the numbers that really stand out: 55 million views and 220,000 subscribers - numbers he's been able to translate into money.

"They put adverts around your videos and you get a cut of that," Tom explains.

He wouldn't give away specific numbers but told Newsbeat he earns between £3,500 and £7,000 each month.

What an odd question. Humour is subjective. The clips appeal to a culture of youdths in possession of very short attention spans. I am also one of those peop

They're funny for the same reason most jokes are.

Humour is subjective, and not really easily explainable. :)

I missed most of the punch lines, but didn't feel sufficiently deprived to go back and listen again.

I personally did not find that funny - although I smirked a little at the moon-bear.

I'm honestly more annoyed at the "talks" channels. They usually consist of "cutesy" 20/21 year old men with emo haircuts who talk about inane topics with fast cuts and poor life advice to boot. Of course these channels have 100k+ subscriber's who are mainly 16 year old girls. The amount these people must be making is depressing.

T'was not my genre so to say...hmm... yes, however, the 'feathers' bit did pique my wry smile.

Meh. Humour is subjective. Pop onto certain sites, and you'll be met with people who tell holocaust jokes, and still like "My Little Pony" o.0

There used to be a sub-forum called the thunderdome that some weirdos found vaguely amusing. Just goes to show everything is subjective.

Well, it was a dam site funnier than Mrs Browns Boys. My girlfriend watches it (mrs browns boys) the odd time in front of me and every time I seriously ask myself if I would be better off single. :-)

In fact I had a flu once that was funnier than Mrs Browns Boys.

This is just that "lol so random" ****e that teenage girls moo over. Mindless garbage that any unimaginative gobshite can do to make themselves feel like they have the best imagination the world has seen. Just throw in some "funny" imagery like a banana, say words like "duck" and "jam" and you're sorted.

On the other hand, at least it wasn't as incredibly obnoxious as some of the complete cunts who just scream and expect that to be funny.

Everyone saying humour is subjective are cowards, what's happened to society that people are afraid to have opinions and express them? Different strokes my arse. This awful crap does well because teenagers and kids are ****ing idiots with no sense or taste. That's about it imo.

Give me an example of a correct sentence.

You know what I meant but you avoided the question. My answer was going to be; "That's ****."

Hence the reason why it's pointless to argue with people over what they find funny and whether something is legitimately funny or not.

i think a lot of people are actually jealous of the success of various different types of performers/whatever you want to call them

and try to justify their opinion by spouting crap like teenagers and kids are ****ing idiots with no sense or taste or the record industry are brainwashing everyone, it's not real music , how can anyone find that funny blah blah blah

humour is subjective, i'm sure some people find Sarah Millican funny, i cant say i do, i cant say i dont either, never listened to her long enough to hear the punchline

I haven't avoided anything. Yes, I knew what your answer was going to be because it's what a stupid little child would say.

Another baseless mindless argument. For your information I have never attempted a career in comedy and feel in no way jealous of anyone who succeeds at anything, even when they're using the most stupid, broad, painful and recycled humour possible.
Furthermore I haven't mentioned music or brainwashing, you're rambling into different topics entirely and giving the assumption I have certain opinions, I can tell you you're drifting very far out with that kind of talk.

A person doesn't need to be worked up to give a view on something inconsequential. Don't be silly.

You're not showing yourself to be worth talking to. You've already told me your reply to the answer you think I'm going to humour you with? And it's dumb. So, ya. Good luck there buddy.

Well, if humour isn't subjective, surely you can post up something that is objectively humourous without hesitation?

I'm still amused that your first post was to say that something was **** and not funny, and then you called it out as a childish thing to say a few posts later. Comedy gold.

The language used was my own, not that of "someone" hypothetical.

I didn't suggest otherwise. I suggested that your reaction to the things in which other people find humour was disproportionate to the importance of same.

    Don't be silly.

My opinion on banal, witless tripe is my own to express in any way I feel, and in any proportion, which goes some way to my first post in this thread. I don't care that you're upset by what I'm saying. Be as peevish as you like.
