Where to introduce a Scout group to sailing?

    Folks,

I'm looking for a suitable facility on the East coast or possibly inland to introduce a Scout group to sailing - the age group would be 12 to 16, and there could be up to 30 of them. I was thinking of a one day introductory course on the water, with the bulk of the time spend in the boats rather than in the classroom. To facilitate this we will be running some theory classes ourselves in advance. There may be some non-swimmers so the availability of keelboats would be beneficial.

Any suggestions for clubs/sailing schools etc who could accommodate this - we could split the group in two and run two days if the numbers are prohibitive. Many thanks for any ideas!

East wall sailing club is probably your best bet. They're set up specifically for community groups.

Just checked and it's called east wall water sports centre. I won't put the contact details up but a quick google search will get you the phone number.

Seeing as your in Firhouse, Dun Laoghaire would be closest to you. There's http://www.inss.ie/ but also talk to http://www.8ucalafort.org/ as they may be able to help you out.
