Sony Experia LT18i Google Drive upload issue

    I had just recorded a video and tried to share it to Google drive. It seemed to take ages but I took no notice at first. I went about my business and looked at the phone after a while and the drive icon was still at the top of the screen.
    When I pulled down the screen so check the status it said, "Up[loading 1 file...0.0kb" and the progress bar just siting there.
    I tried to select it to stop it but I cannot seem to stop the process, or indeed stop or remove the icon from the top of the screen.

    I have stopped and re-started a load of services but to no avail. I have pulled the battery numerous times and left it out but again, every time I re-connect to WI-Fi the icon re-appears and still the same progress bar - just sitting there.
    When I touch the status bar (after I pull down the screen) it goes to Google drive menu. Then (almost instantly) {! Sorry - The application Drive(processcom.google.android.apps.docs) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.

    I force close and back to square one with the icon still remaining at the top of of the screen.

    This is all started last evening about 7 pm.

    Is there any way of stopping this service/upload?
    Its wrecking my head at this stage.
    Any input is greatly appreciated.
