It has been revealed that Arnold Schwarzenneger is attempting to have the relevant laws changed so that he can run for president in 2016. Do you think he'd make a good president? I think he would.

    Where has it "been revealed"?

He's around 70 & has just restarted his film career & is block booked for the next couple of years.

    Not. Gonna. Happen.

I think the Democrats would need something in return. I read somewhere that they would allow for foreign born presidents if the Republicans would allow longer terms for presidents (ie, more than 8 years).

As an avid AC/DC fan, I thought it was hysterical when he does the 'duck walk' in this video. :pac:

Why? They've already had an actor for president in recent memory, just a less well known one.

If he can be governor of a state he should be eligible to go higher.

It would take both houses to pass the law, nobody is going to attempt it until Arnie is dead.
Think his sex scandals during his term as governor would count against him. Imagine what he'd be like if he got the top job!
    Cigar dildos for all !

Yeah cos Americans wouldn't stand for a president that would use a cigar as a sex toy.

Won't happen, at least not for Schwarzenegger. He was a disaster as Governor of California.
Just two years ago, the idea that California could be a global model for anything was laughable. When Brown took office, the state was staggered by double-digit unemployment, a $26 billion deficit and an accumulated "wall of debt" topping $35 billion. California was a punch line for Republican politicos – a cautionary tale, they said, of the fate that awaits the nation should it embrace Left Coast-style economic, social and environmental liberalism. On the campaign trail in 2012, Mitt Romney joked that "America is going to become like Greece, or like Spain, or Italy, or like . . . California."

But in astonishingly short order, America's shrewdest elder statesmen blazed a best-worst way out of California's economic morass. With a stiff cocktail of budget cuts and hard-won new taxes, Brown has not only zeroed out the deficit, he's also begun paying down the debt. "Jerry Brown's leadership is a rebuttal to the failed policies of Republicans in Washington," says Neera Tanden, president of the Center for American Progress. "California is proving you can have sane tax systems, raise revenues, eliminate structural deficits and have economic growth."

Fed up with the state's own obstructionist Republicans, California voters have even given Brown a Democratic supermajority in the state legislature. As a result, the Golden State is now reasserting itself as a proving ground for the kind of bold ideas that Republicans have roadblocked in Washington – including a cap-and-trade carbon market, high-speed rail and education-funding reform.

It wouldn't take Schwarzenegger 10 years to find Bin Laden... Even if he tried. Remember when I said I'd kill you last? I LIED.

Not that i'd agree with (i wouldn't) but i'd want this to happen just so i can hear him say:

    "I will terminate North Korea/Iran/etc"

Only as long as they let him run against Bill Clinton.

    "CONAN vs ONAN "
With a nice tagline "Whoever wins, the female secretaries lose"

This is pretty much all I need to hear....
Schwarzenegger was later criticized for reneging on his campaign pledges not to take money from special interests....Schwarzenegger continues to collect campaign contributions from private interests[7] at a greater rate than any politician in California history, including Gray Davis, whom he criticized on that very issue

Wouldn't it need a change to the constitution? It states clearly in the constitution that only natural born US citizens can be President. No way the constitution gets changed to suit Arnie.

The man has to dominate at everything he does, films, bodybuilding and now politics, typical German.Although how he treated his wife may have burned him with a lot of voters, especially female.

I can't be the only one who noticed that the OP called him Schwarzenneger - "black n*gger"???

And btw, the fellow was born in Austria, which disqualifies him for even running for US presidency.

Did you read the OP? He clearly knows this (as does the whole world). However he states that Schwarzenegger is trying to have the relevant laws changed to make it possible for him to run.

And they would be horribly misinformed. The national debt rose from $900 billion to $2.8 trillion during Reagan's tenure. America is still feeling the negative effects of 'Reaganomics' today. Reagan didn't bring an end to the Cold War either, The Soviet Union didn't collapse as a result of any of America's policies yet to this day Regan is hailed as the man who brought the Soviet Union to its knees. The guy also brought in some of the most draconian and institutionally racist drug laws ever seen which are a large part of the reason why over 2 million American's are currently incarcarated in a bloated prison industry complex.

It would need a change to the constitution which requires the approval of two-thirds of each of the house of reps and the senate AND then the approval of 75% of states. Not gonna happen.

Arnold's father, Gustav Schwarzenneger was in the Nazi party in Austria, he was also a member of Hitler's Brown-shirts.

    So was the current pope.

Sure what would they know! Didn't they live under the glorious socialist German Democratic Republic where the government had to build a wall to stop people fleeing? AH is the authoritative voice on such matters!

Schwarzenegger was a decent Governor of California. If there was a deficit it was because of a major collapse in revenue and a recaltraint democratic house. And initiatives which stopped much revenue raising. Now California is booming. As it does when IT booms. ( it's other two major industries, Movies and Agriculture are largely recession free)

That is all a nice story, did you read all that in Pravda?

Americans have a very high opinion of Reagan, all one has to do is look at polls the most recent one taken in 2013 where 69% of respondents said that they thought he was "outstanding" or an "above average" president, far higher than any president going back to Nixon. Forgive me that I would rather take their opinion, you know actual Americans, over some random person on an Irish website. European just love to pontificate their enlightenment and superiority over Americans. Americans normally don't give a crap in return. Massive inferiority complex at play id say!

    Stats here by the way.

I know some people are going to take this the wrong way but.....100% this.

When I was in the US - *nobody* talked about Europe. I mean, if they were planning a holiday they might say, 'Yeah, I think we might go to Paris'. If you said you were from Dublin, they might say, 'Oh yeah, I'm Irish'.

But they don't know much of anything about the rest of the world, and they just don't care. Royal Wedding? Sure, they might watch it, but they care about it less than Kim Kardashian's wedding.
