. . when you go to bed?

I don't leave any on, I wouldn't sleep if I thought there was still one on.

    I'm a little bit crazy I guess. .

    None, as nature intended.

None, turn off all the lights in the house when I am going to bed, turn off my bedside lamp when I am going to sleep.

I'd fidget and toss and turn all night until got up and switched it off. I live in the backarse of nowhere so on a calm night like tonight I can hear them buzzing, even downstairs.

At least one. Either the hall light or the bathroom light, sometimes both. I'm a big scaredy-cat when it comes to being in the dark.

    Yeah... I don't think so.

Beautiful calm night here, the full moon is shining bright, and I am tucked up in my leaba as happy as a church mouse in a. . . er. . church.

I turn all lights off when I go to bed.

The house across the road has every light on.

garage, outside front light, back light and every room in the house has a light on all night.

The woman,28yo, is scared of the dark.

Laugh my feckin ass off when she told me the cost. 6x the cost of my electricity.

None, all off with two exceptions. 1) If it is night time then I turn the lights on/off as I enter/leave the room. Sitting room, tv is on so no need for lights. 2) Like last night, I was at work, OH was out with friends so I left the hall light on so she wouldn't be in complete darkness when she stumbled in :) she does the same for me. Be lost without each other

None - why would you leave any lights on? Unless you have kids who need night lights of course

dammit, there was an 80's song reference for a goodnight thread by The Backwards Man, and we missed it.

so you left the moon on last night TBM - did you see the eclipse?

We leave one on in the landing. It's to make sure the kids can get to the toilet without incident if they need to in the night.

I don't get why people leave lights on when they sleep, seems like such a waste to me. I can't sleep with any lights on, and even have to cover any lights from the laptop/ charger etc.

OMG, and I thought I was the only who could hear them buzzing.

I turn off all the lights, switch off all the sockets, nothing on, that doesn't need to be on.
Got to save on electricity and all that Xd

One upstairs, one downstairs. And if I'm sleeping on my own in my bed, then I tend to leave on the lamp

We leave the kitchen light on. We've got 4 cats so it's self-preservation leaving a light on so we don't fall over 1 or more of them on the way to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,971 ✭✭✭Holsten

I leave one downstairs light on all night.

    Dunno why... habit really.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 75 ✭✭Sandypants

I've a street lamp that shines through my window so i dont need the lights on...plus i save on the electricity!! its stops me freaking out when my cats start pouncing at my feet in the middle of the night wanting to play.... dont even like cats much ; p!

If you've kids or you're elderly and you want to make sure it's safe for getting up during the night or whatever then fair enough but I don't know why you'd leave a light on otherwise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,420 ✭✭✭Lollipops23

I don't leave any on- in fact I get mad at myself if I get up in the morning and realise I left the kitchen light on all night.

Turn everything off when I head to bed and turn my lamp off when I'm off to sleep.

Landing or Bathroom, thats it. Bedroom is usally in close to pitch darkness with blackout curtains, only glow in it might be just from the TV or Laptop.

Never used to leave any on, however since getting knocked up I have to get up to go to the loo several times a night, so I've been leaving the landing light on at night. I'm ridiculously clumsy these days, I'd probably fall down the stairs if the light wasn't on. :o

One... I used to have one at my motorbike but thats covered by IR CCTV now, so I leave a small monitor on instead.. My CCTV covers the front, side and rear of the house ~ with IR I can see in the dark :)

Oh god, I remember that. The constant need to pee at night combined with hormonal clumsiness and sleep made for lots of nocturnal bumps and bruises

Generally leave the entrance light on, and the one in the stairway at night.

No lights left on inside the house but the outside sensor light comes on when its dark so that's on all night

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,358 ✭✭✭Aineoil

I find it difficult to sleep with the lights on in the corridor. I need to close the curtains too.

But when you have children you need to leave the lights on in case they need to go to the toilet or they get scared and need to come to your room for reassurance.
