I wonder who she is? Full article
Authorities in Greek have now launched an international appeal to help identify the mysterious four-year-old blonde girl allegedly snatched from her parents by a couple with whom she was found living in a Gypsy settlement.

Police are now desperately trying to establish why the girl was living with the couple, who are also accused of falsifying identity and family certificates – with the mother claiming to have given birth to six children within a total of less than 10 months.

The child was found this week near Farsala in central Greece during a nationwide crackdown on illegal activities by Roma, also known as Gypsies. Police say they also found drugs and unregistered firearms in other parts of the settlement, which is about 280km north of Athens.

But the blonde, pale-skinned and blue-eyed girl stood out. She bore no resemblance to the Greek couple – a 39-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, who were arrested and charged with abducting a minor. Police said DNA testing confirmed that they weren't related.

When I first saw it I actually thought that for a second until I realised Madeline is/should be 8-10 now. I wonder if something similar happened her?

I wonder if they cracked down on Roma Gypsies what would they find here? A lot of roma gypsies are selling used clothes( I wonder where they get them?). They also do a lot of "begging". I also wonder how a lot of Gypsies always have iPhones and S4s to sell, but yet they dont have a job?

I feel sorry for Romanian people who because they are from romania are compared to Gypsies. Its like comparing all Irish people to travellers, just because we are the same nationality, although we are nothing alike.

She could be a Star Child, like your wan in the 80s TV series. V.

She may have been born - by a cosmic form of immaculate conception - to eventually reunite the warring tribes of disenfranchised, thieving, gold-toothed Romas and the settled, hegemonic bourgeoisie of the EU.

She's even sounds Aryan looking, like the star child in V.

One way to know for sure would be to put her in a stressful situation - for example a lizard attacking her ma - and if you hear cheap O Fortuna style music and she levitates people around the room, she's the one.

    Saw this earlier today.
Poor child, terrible thing to have happened to her(really don't want to think too much about it).
I hope she is re-united with her family as quickly as can be.

Well I was fairly sure it was 10 but wasn't sure and didn't really feel like being crucified if I got it wrong.

Whatever age she would be doesn't really matter, whether she is still alive, that's what matters.

By now if she (Madeline) had been kidnapped and sold on, chances are she would have no memory of her parents at this stage.

Didn't the police in England discover that Travellers had slaves?
I used to think they should be called Flee'ers, since they don't so much travel as flee an area. But I've 'moved' on.

The girl was probably kidnapped for use as a child beggar, the sad truth is that because people happily hand money to the Roma beggars & children there is a market in smuggling and abducting kids to use as little profitable slaves.

When she was rescued by the authorities, the first thing she said was, "the Romas mostly come out at night. Mostly."

From the looks of her hair I think they dyed it brown at one stage. I hope they find her real family.

Of course what age she is matters, besides her appearance, age would be the second most useful thing to identify Maddie

I really hope the media start linking this to the Ben Needham case, which could seriously do with some more attention...

I seem to remember there being a supposed sighting of Maddie living with a Roma family a year or two ago! and although that sighting proved not to be Maddie, this case certainly opens up the possibility (among all the others) that Maddie was kidnapped and is now living with Roma cypsies? Maybe they should re evaluate that Maddie sighting from a year or two ago, and check that childs DNA, just in case . . .

Will be great to reunite this little 4 year old with her parents, but who are they? and how old was she when she was taken? many questions to be answered here.

Does anyone know what came of this: (from the Ben Needham Wiki) ? They hardly just left the child with the Gypsy's did they?

In late 1995, private investigator Stratos Bakirtzis found a blond boy, aged around six years old, to be living with a Gypsy family in a camp located in Salonika, Greece. The child claimed he had been given to the Gypsies after being abandoned by his biological parents and his adoptive mother claimed to have bought the boy from another Gypsy. But there was no evidence found to suggest this was Ben.[14]

Makes you wonder how many dark haired kids that are bought/sold/stolen and never even discovered because they don't stand out.

The mother was claiming to have 6 children within a 10 month period and they're not sextuplets. Well done to the Greek authorities.

Allowing a group of people meander around and not adhere to some of the laws of a country (tax, child neglect etc.) that the vast majority abide by is surely asking for trouble?

Look up outgroups and ingroups and alienation etc. People do not take naturally to groups that are different to them but it has to be worked at.

College nonsense...people dont take kindly to groups who flout the law of the land through begging, stealing and fraud and think nothing of using children to do thier dirty work for them.

Romas are notorious for this behavior and Greece, having a border with Romania nd Bulgaria is full of them.

Here's a docu on Romas in England.

If you're suggesting they had something to do with her disappearance, if you've watched them on telly and seen how distraught they actually are that their daughter has vanished, you'd know this theory is bollox tbh.

Obviously I can't know that for certain. No one can.

I can only voice my own opinion. I honestly do not (for one second) believe anything sinister has happened to the child at the hands of her parents.

Lilke you said though, No one has any real idea what's happened to the little girl.

Most people outside Ireland and Britain don't compare the two separate peoples, in my experience.

Travellers on the other hand have strong Irish origins.
