Has anyone heard if Drico is supposed to be on the late late show tonight? I seem to remember something about it a few weeks back?

Given the weekend I'd love it if they talked about hcup. Doesn't look like it's happening.

I actually like Tubirdy, he's good at this kind of human interest interviewing

Yeah, defo sounds more like a calf tweak, as that'd be 10-14 day turn around.

The way he was talking about it and hoping to be back in a few weeks just sounded ominous to me. He didn't sound confident when saying it and being hopeful of being back in a few weeks when the AIs kick off in a few weeks is cutting it fine....

BOD calls John Hayes his friend but then he doesn't call for his Hayes' re-introduction into the Irish team. You seriously missed a trick there Brian... :(

Yeah certainly didn't sound too good about the injury, it sadly reminds me of Shane Horgan but hopefully he'll get back.

Very impressed with what he's doing for the charities too. He really is a very likeable chap.

Watching that tonight made me thankful for sky plus and recording!

    Absolute legend.

I did think there'd be a few more giggles at the all blacks thing though, where he had to back track from the no Irish team beating them to no national team. Seemed only tubs got that one!!

Hopefully he'll be back in time for the AI's.

Does anyone else find him having two testimonial dinners a bit much? I know a 'portion' of the proceeds go to charity and all that but it just seems a bit crass to me. I suppose if people are happy to pay then why not. Don't get me wrong, if anyone deserves two it's BOD but it looks a bit greedy, imo anyway.

20% went to the IRFU charitable trust and the "substantial amount" is going to Temple Street and the ISPCC.

Seriously man get a grip. Even if he did get a cut, who cares as long as money is raised for fantastic causes. It certainly isn't greedy.

Was reassuring seeing seany fitz was able to cobble the few shekels together to make it.

Best of luck to bod. He could have 102 testimonials and pocket the lot himself!

    Ledge of ledges!

To be honest when I was posting that I was worried I would sound like a begrudger, which is a trait I really don't like. Huge admiration for the guy, think he is Ireland's greatest ever sportsman, etc. Certainly have no desire to get into a long post battle where I am criticizing him so i'll try to finish up with this one.

Over 2000 attended the one in London with tickets starting at 680 euro, i'd say a minimum of a half million went to bod's pocket being conservative.

I suppose as you say, money is being raised for good causes when it otherwise wouldn't be so that alone is probably justification for two.

Jesus. Could you not just enjoy his appearance on the TV without finding something to give out about?

Would have preferred an interview with Conrad Smith tbh.

You don't sound like a begrudger, you ARE a begrudger.

Feel free to judge my character on my viewpoint (which i admitted wasn't set in stone) on one issue. I'd just rather see a testimonial for someone like Eoin O'Malley rather than two for BO'D.

Hmm -- jesus just leave him have his interview -- get onto the IRFU if you want to bitch about dinners.

I think you're in a company of 1 there Aotearoa. I like Conrad but BOD is a much more interesting character.

(Not to mention this is Ireland we are living in, and BOD is...well...Irish)

The man is simply a genius. In fact there should be a statue erected outside the Aviva in his honour. Our greatest ever rugby player.

Look up how to set up a proxy through an Irish IP address, then watch it one the RTE player. I think there are add-on's for chrome that does that really easily now

I wish O'Malley all the best , but ther has been many many players who for various reasons have not been able to fulfill ther potential - BOD did fulfill his - tenfold - he guided an all so ran team at Leinster to 3 HC cups , a genuine Superstar for Ireland - 100 and something Caps for Ireland, everyone fully deserved - the amount of times he has made me proud to be Irish , in these dark days, I've lost count . His work with Children less fortunate , is genuine 100 %, and he himself is so grounded for a true Superstar - so yeah , I'd give him another testimonial , or 2 , for all he has done for Irish rugby , we will never be able to pay back.

He can have 20 dinners if he wants.

Never ceases to amaze my how some people will always look for the negative in everything

The IRFU trust, that BOD is donating a large chunk of money to, operates to assist rugby players who are seriously injured or forced to retire unexpectedly, ahead of time (such as EOM).

Given the well deserved hero worship BO'D is treated with on here, this was unlikely to be the right forum for my point and I probably shouldn't have bothered. But I think if you asked your non rugby supporting friends or those only casually interested, they might think having two dinners (dinners makes them sound like small affairs, these are huge events with ticket sales in the millions) where you're keeping 70 percent or so of the proceeds is a bit much given you've had a long and lucrative career and have huge earning capacity going forward.

It's just an opinion, some posters on here need to be a little less precious.

20% going to IRFU charitable trust and substantial amount goes to ISPCC and Temple Street, yet you pick out 70% goes to himself....

It's a ballpark estimate. Obviously the figures are so big that %5 would be a substantial amount as would %15. I presume the IRFU charitable trust is getting a bigger percentage as that is the named percentage so I settled on %10.
