    Hi folks
I am 6'2" and weigh 13st 7lbs. I hurl at club senior level and during the winter do a bit of running to keep in some bit of shape. I generally aim for and achieve a marathon a week in runs from 3-7 miles long. I mile at about 7 minutes.

I got curious about my body fat tonight and did a tape measure body fat test. It is telling me that I am at 13.3% body fat.

I am a novice to all of this and was just wondering how accurate these body fat tests are? The website, health central claims + or- 2% accuracy. So all of you boardsies who know about this stuff, how accurate are they in your experience.

    What was the website?

+/-2% means you could be anywhere from 11-15%, that's a pretty big margin. So they aren't exactly claiming to be all that accurate, its probably reasonable it's within those limits 80% of the time or more.

Mirror/photos are the only real test you can do at home. All the rest are inaccurate.

    No it's not.

    Callipers is the most accurate.

Calipers only measures fat. I suggested the other other because measures more things which are linked to wellness. It is also old technology..

I think you are confusing tanita with a DEXA scan. Tanita is useless

A tanita scales or similar measures electrical resistance, that's it. It doesn't actually measure bf%, it sort of has a bit of a guess though.

I just did the tape thing and it was one % point above my bf as measured by calipers.
