What do girls here think of the idea of a girl her 20s dating a guy thats 10 years older, obviously as a girl advances though the 20s it begins to matter less and less , just wondering do girls in their 20s prefer to date guys in a similar age bracket or not care at all as long as there is a connection, sorry this isnt a pervy question at all its just theres a girl im interested in thats 26 and im 35 ,and surely thats fairly commen?

Depends on the girl's preference - and the individual guy.

The only issue IMO would be if the age gap led to personality differences due to difference in life stage, maturity etc - and that's for the two people to find out, it doesn't mean they shouldn't give it a go, and it might not cause any issue. Otherwise, 35 and 26 is grand! No biggie.

There is a general rule of thumb for what society generally considers acceptable... It's half your age plus 7. So, for 35 years old that would put your lower limit at 24.5.

So your 26 year old is well within that.

I would say its less about age and more about stage. If they are both at a similar stage in life, or have similar goals and interests then its fine.

I personally wouldn't date a guy more than a few years older than me. I'm 29 now, and a 39 year old sounds really old. But then to be fair, its hard to tell when you meet someone first what age they really are.

I'm sure its more about the people themselves though. The only issue might be if you want to settle down sooner rather than later and she doesn't or vice versa.

To sum up, if you like her and she likes you, then there shouldn't be a problem OP .

Some women like older guys, some don't. You can't generalise. I have friends who have never and would never date a guy older than them and some who have no problem with it. 26 and 35 isn't much of an age gap though as long as you're both at similar stages in your lives.
