You could chance FSZ in NCBC at 3.7% Calving, but reliability is very low at 36%.

    Thrunton Bonjovi @ Dovea

If she was mine, she'd be calving in 3 mths to an easy calving Lim or BA.

But that's not much good to ya now!
Excellent bred some nice stock, but his head is poor.
    Nelson (NEX) was decent too.

If it's CF52 he wasn't easy calved, and he's long gone.

Just saw him on their catalogue. Checked there now on www.icbf.com and he's now 4.9% at 77% reliability (156 calvings). Not bad for a charolais.

If she was mine shed already be calved!!

Bought a blast of blelack digger last year I think he will be a fantastic breeder of PB bulls and his maternal is good too.
Havent used any on him yet but from talking to anyone that has used him he is very good on calving, short gestation and small calves that grow on and on with quality.
Any one that has used him said hes easier calved than pte

pedigree? if your AI man had some PTE in the pot still his sons are making good money at the sales.

Okapibb is an easy calving hermes son that might be worth checking out.

The AI crowd in cork ABS.

I paid about 800 for either 40 or 50 of them, but last lad I talked to said they are now 60 bucks each!

and 9.5 month old bull calf from him - his mother - beside him was weighed last year at around 930kgs

sorry cant put up pics - will try later when I get home

Pics of bull and a bull calf from him with his dam up on farming photos thread now-wouldnt go up here?

ADA. With a CD of 13% he wouldn't be for me. A terminal sire for mature cows by the looks if him.

true, but with the indurian breeding from his dam side, it brings his CD down to just under 10% which isnt that bad for a CH

all my dears have spent last 2 years calving BB with some jack assistance, so fingers crossed

Agreed, if you want heavy shapey weanlings or even better if youre finishing to factory hes youre man, however the lad I have also has a 12% rating for calving and after over 50 calves from him ive never had 1 very hard pull or section, all mature cows calve on their own alright, but I had 5 two year old heifers calve to him last year, 1 was even a whxfr and no major problems.
Sure I have had the odd pull, but that was probobly down to feeding the cow too well before calving more than anything but the quality of the calves more than makes up for the small pull.

I wouldnt be telling anyone he is easy calving either or for heifers for that matter but I've had no problems with him on cows or heifers. Hope i havent jinxed meself now..

Yea ya have to look at what the dams side is bringing too and Induran blood should bring easier calving.

I'm a big fan of Lgl but he can be sticky enough at calving on 2nd calvers I don't know if I'd use him.. Other option may be safer for one more calving IMO

Would you put a lot of that down to your pre-calving routine i.e. restricted intake for last 6wks? Or roomy cows? Heading over to other thread now to look at your photos ;)

i would use thrunton bonjovi (s750) of dovea we had a pedigree calf out of him but he had bad legs so we killed him at 16 months he was e grade unbelievable bull and was calved easily

What's the best export bull since cf52?
Any one using ai ch on good sized cows what bulls are ye finding doing the business?

    How are people finding LGL?
I've used him about 5 times now and not over exicited about him. Not a patch on bulls like CF85 and HWN.

know a few lads raving about LGL, his straws are almost gone i think

my bull is breeding out of ADA and Indurian and is throwing good calves

CF85, CF52, PTE will never be replaced i think

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,225 ✭✭✭charolais0153

his back legs were too straight and the front ones were bent

Npp is a good bull and alot milking

OSI or PIO were always the two used here, think OSI is gone now though so am on the look out as well.

S750 bull calved here a week ago out of a LMX cow, nothing seems to be wrong with his legs as he's mad as a hare!

We use NPP whenever we can, he is much easier on the cows than PTE is which is generally the other one we use when NPP straws arnt available

We used NPP on the heifers this year, by all reports he is very easy and good calf, the stock bull is by jumper and very easy calved, the new bull is a cf52 son and hope he is like his da very easy calved.

Did you keep any pio heifers?
Have 3 early may heifers, 1 pio & 2 alu.
    Pio wouldn't be as muscling

Have one from last year and another this year looks like she may be a keeper instead of another that was originally to be kept but now putting up an arse like Kim Kardashian.:D

Not too bad, but she was off a heifer so wouldn't have been getting a world of milk. Stars on a bull can only tell you about him, sure they may come like the mother and be a champion breeder. No one can know how your stock breeds except yourself!

I don't know about that. I've seen class calves off him and I've a few off him this year that are turning into good calves. Only problem is they were born to late.

Here are two of mine. They are mid April and mid May unfortunately and they seem to take a while before filling out but I think they've great potential

Couldn't get OSI last time I asked, used him before with good results, cousin had bull after him and always got on well with most calving alone

Ya mine now would be very like the guy on the right. I dunno, they don't seem to have the width or bone you would have got from other char bulls I used before.
Your one of the left seems a serious calf though.
