    Very unusual for Finglas.

Such a quiet leafy suburb where nothing like this ever happens.

No offence lapin, but that's a pretty daft thing to say. I notice you are in Galway?

Hope the staff are ok. Not nice, armed robbery

Some armed robbers can be quite polite:

What a fúcking dumbass, no mask or nothing and only $400, if you are gonna rob some where you might as well make it worth your while. So if you get caught it would be worth it.

If your monicle does fall out, may I suggest that you take your head out of your arse as well?

You should have taken him/her up on their spelling of monocle as well. The clue is in the the mono bit.

Was in the shop this afternoon and all came to a standstill as it was being robbed. I was near the back of the shop so didn't see anything but heard staff were threatened with a shotgun and a hammer. Hope the b's are caught soon
I doubt they'll be caught at all.

    I am indeed.

    Not Tuam.

But keep digging through old websites and you're bound to find a robbery in Galway somewhere.

Yes because armed robbers go in quiet as mice, smile and walk out. The whole point of the guns and screaming is to intimidate people!

    Kop on man!

Based on your experience of witnessing how many armed robberies in real life? Or just TV shows?

When someone shoves a gun in your face and you are unarmed and behind a till, no loud noises are needed

Keep digging? I wouldn't see the need.

An armed robbery could happen in most cities and towns, and it does not really reflect on the surrounding area. You chose to run down the entire area of Finglas...daft, cheap and easy.

He had done this many times before and hoped on two things that the shop keeper would feel pity for him and not report him and second the judge would see his plight
Neither worked as he is in the slammer.

The new Aldi in Mulhuddart was held up last Wednesday evening too. Shops not even open a month and they already do it over...

Ah well, some people prefer Lidl, some prefer Aldi. It's all down to the vibe. I'm more a Lidl lad meself.

And you responded by saying you noticed I am based in Galway and put up a link to a crime in Tuam.

Talk about "running down an entire area". You retaliated by running down a totally unconnected area. I hope you're never sent on a job as a hitman.

And you go on to say that people run Finglas down because its "cheap and easy" to do so.

    Nail on head here.

Its precicely beacuse Finglas has such a shitty reputation that people continue to run the place down. Often deservedly so. Of course there are decent people living there who far outnumber the scumbags. But until the place cleans up its act, it will continue to receive all the slagging it gets.

If the banks didn't charge people so much for debit card transactions, there would be far fewer armed robberies in Ireland.

No joined up thinking at all. Way too much cash in use.

We have all the technology in place - chip and pin, contactless, reloadable smart cards.

Charging people 20c a swipe puts them off using it.

    Hello folks,

The Dublin forum would be the best place to continue this discussion.
