Appreciate there are a few topics, but most are old & not specific.

Looking for the best/cheapest way to order from iherb re Ireland postage

What the limits avoiding vat are in peoples experience

The limits for the charging of vat and duties are fixed. There's some info here.

People cannot post here and advise you how to 'get around' customs charges.

You will find in several other older topics here, that people have effectively done just that, I only wanted up to date.

    Anyway, never mind

I've received 6+ orders from iherb and never been charged customs etc.
How big an order are you planning on doing? Mine have usually been small, around $30-$50 for food items & vits.

I've never had an issue with customs, and I've been a customer of iherb for the past 5 years or so. Shipping is free for October for orders over $40 and under 3 lbs (will double check thst - could be 4lbs) in weight. At the moment that would be the cheapest way, you could split orders if necessary. There is often flat rate offers for the dhl courier delivery. I have ordered about $80 worth with no problem. There are also many discount codes for $10 off your first order, you could use mine REL330 or google for one!

    Great, sounds good.

Just a couple more questions please.

    1. Are you having to pay any extra vat on delivery?
    2. Are you both selecting the DHL default shipping option or the international Airmail with Tracking

Asking to find out if one over the other make a difference on VAT charges.

From older topics I have read here (which unfortunately are not consistent) some suggestions were, the couriers DHL UPS, were charging or more likely to charge vat, and if so a small service charge on top upon delivery.

Far as I can make out the international Airmail with Tracking, is DHL to Germany then regular onto An Post mail in Ireland.

Shipping is ridiculously cheap and fast. I got a 10kg delivery couple months back and it was 20 bucks or so. It was a large order mind.

It is shipped door to door with DHL. If it leaves California on Sunday it gets to Dublin via GB by Tues morn but will take another 48 hours for the local boys to send it to the wrong address and recall and send it out again.

There's sometimes a holdup at customs as they'll open a lot of parcels if containing powder.

Never got stung for vat. It's v worth it for lots of stuff which can be as low as 25-30 % of the price here.

Was never charged any vat or customs, have placed 20 or more orders. Usually go for the non tracked airmail shipping (which as I said is free at the moment for orders over 40 and under 4 lbs) Usually have the orders within 10 days. Have used the dhl courier delivery a couple of times, takes about 4 days.

same for me ^^^^ 3-4days at most unless customs have to look inside the box to check for anything dodgy.

Quest bars, fish oils, digestive enzymes, probiotics, nut butter are the main items i order

Can you recommend a good probiotic from that site for general use?

Only ordered once from this crowd, but the difference between what I wanted to buy here and iHerb was just ridiculous so I went for it! I was a bit apprehensive when I realised I put in the shipping address as the billing address and it didn't pick it up but it was delivered in decent time and no sting by customs. Will probably order off them again :)

I get stuff from iHerb all the time. As long as the order is under 120 euro I haven't had to pay customs. Even when I placed a larger order that I think was for about 160 euro I only had to pay about 12 euros in charges. As I would have paid more than double the price buying everything here it was still a major saving. I use the DHL shipping option and generally orders arrive in less than a week. Never had any problems. If anyone's interested and is shopping for the first time you can use my discount code <SNIP> it will give up you up to 10 euros off first time orders. When you join they have a rewards program and you get code to give to people. This has saved me nearly $700 in reward earnings so far. Between that and the difference in prices the savings are significant.

Have any of you lads ordered to the North of Ireland at all?

I live just inside the north so was wondering what peoples experiences were with customs etc.

I tried to order last week and it said that they dont deliver to my address

    Not sure on NI.

What's wrong with ref codes? Aren't there at least 3 separate threads with purely referral codes for 3 separate companies?
