Hi lads, I'm just looking for something as a quick meal I can make by myself when I'm getting peckish. What would your opinions be on the packaged chicken you can get in most supermarkets? Is it alright to eat with some pasta etc. I was thinking along on the lines of maybe ham but what would go with ham in a healthy meal that would fill me up. P.S. Rookie foodie here. And I'm sick of eggs before someone asks

Pre packaged meats are a handy snack, just make sure they are decent and have ~20g of protein per 100g

Some of the cheaper stuff is full of water / salt / fat

It is a relatively expensive source of protein but is more filling than a shake..

Natural yogurt / Cottage Cheese / Quark are all good choices too

Brown bread. Tin fish ( sardines, salmon, macarel).

Two weeks back, Aldi had some Oktoberfest foods in and I picked up two packets of these small cured cocktail sausage snacks. Nutritional content was pretty sound. I would have stocked up for a handy go-to protein snack, but they were almost sold out.

Thought sausages would be considered a major no no. High fat content (not the good fat either)

I disagree. Animal-derived fat is not to be avoided, IMO.

I was interested in them due to the high protein content and low number of additives. Iirc, it was just pork, paprika and cheese. No wheat rusk or anything like that.

Fair enough. Food is there to be enjoyed anyway ! Some other people's diets on this forum would depress me if I were doing what hey were doing.

what about rasher - are they a healthy snack or are they full of water too?

Rashers and eggs are a staple part of my diet :)

is there any type of rashers you buy like denny or are the more expensive brands better?

Rashers are ok typically, I would usually try and get the leaner looking cuts..

When i said to avoid cheaper brands earlier I meant to try and get real cuts of ham / chicken as apposed to the reconstituted stuff. e.g avoid circular slices of chicken ;)

    Same as.

Typically for breakfast Id have 2 rashers, 2/3 scrambled eggs and half a tub of cottage cheese. Good ~500kcal breakfast.

Again, if I'm peckish during the day (usually am) I try pick up a tub of cottage cheese, ham, chicken or a protein bar (lots of shops started selling them recently). One of the above usually keeps me going until I can get a proper meal down.

I usually avoid anything high carb or full of sugars. Currently in the best shape I have ever been.
