When Punk left with the title, on screen, there was a big panic to get a new champion crowned. Think they had it done the next week. What changed that they are now happy enough to leave it vacant? Why couldn't they just reverse the decision with the fast count and leave Orton as champion? Might have actually meant something then last night.

What changed? The storyline, a new Champion fit the story line that Punk left and they wanted a new Champion asap because he left. This time having no Champion suits the idea they don't want Bryan to be champ and want Orton to prove he should be Champion.

Likely told/manipulated. Triple H wants to be seen as just fair enough to the babyfaces so that there isn't a mutiny or Corporate scrutiny.

The official WWE Twitter tweeted a pic of Hunter stepping on the Corporate Jet to Battleground. Dunno if that was an admissible part of the storyline or a real life out of storyline picture.
