Linoforce for constipation

    Hi there,
I'm just wondering if anyone else out there has been using a vogel's linoforce to maintain regular bowel movements? I've suffered from constipation since a child, have tried all the recommended things - high fibre diet, plenty of fruit & veg, prunes, plenty of water etc but two years ago I discovered a herbal remedy called Linoforce which is linseed coated with senna and frangula. When I had a health check last year I mentioned this to the doctor in the mater and she took note, said it was ok as long as I wasn't straining to have a bowel movement. She mentioned maybe going for a colonoscopy if I was really concerned to find out if there is an underlying cause to my chronic constipation but at the time I didn't look any further into it. Now I am beginning to reconsider the colonoscopy.
At present, I need to take Linoforce (a sprinkle of a teaspoon amount) on my porridge in the mornings. Otherwise I will remain clogged up for days. I'm really worried now that my bowel with not function properly without it. Basically I just want to know if anyone else out there has used A Vogel's Linoforce Granules and their experience? Also if anybody could give me advice on going about getting an colonoscopy. I am a 27 year old female in full time employment but no health insurance. Would it be a costly procedure? And would there be much of a waiting list?
    Thanks so much for reading

Do whatever the doctor suggests, if he/she wants to investigate further you should, colonoscopy will be free on the public health service but you may be on a waiting list for a bit.

I don't suffer from constipation myself but have recommended the following to people that have suffered for years and they swear by it:

    http://www.iherb.com/Peter-Gillham-s-Natural-Vitality-Natural-Calm-The-Anti-Stress-Drink-16-oz-453-g/5121

It will normally work within hours of taking it and is safe to use long term.

iherb's shipping is super fast too, usually get anything I order in around 3 days.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but El Dangeroso, have those who recommended this mentioned whether it's a slow-reactor (as opposed to traditional laxatives that can have one running for the loo)?

OP, I use Fybogel myself for IBS and it's quite good (and doesn't cause any "drama"). My doc said it can be used indefinitely, though I'm not sure if others might have comments about it (it's spaghula husk).

It can cause 'drama' in the susceptible, that's why I can't use it. But I've seen people who find relief in this even when strong laxatives don't work.

I'm not a fan of husks in general as they reduce mineral absorption. More gentle options would be a whole raw carrot a day or a tablespoon of coconut oil.

Hmm, perhaps I'll stick with the Fybogel in that case! Thanks :)

This question might be better answered in Science >Health Science. AFAIK, waiting lists in the public service vary around the country. Your GP or Specialist will be able to refer you, and they should know.

How much it would cost without insurance, I've no idea.

Foods high in fibre: peas, raw vegetables, raspberries, figs. I tend to eat 2 of the Tesco semi-dried figs as dessert, but they are high in sugar.

I'm moving to a low carb diet so finding constipation a bit of a problem (never had it before I had to go on medication which had constipation as a side-effect, and still have the problem even though I'm no longer on those meds :( )

€1500 to €2000 if you were to pay for it yourself I reckon.

I've similar constipation issues but it's made worse by fibre.

I had a colonoscopy (my 4th) two weeks ago and I overheard a nurse on the phone saying the waiting list was 3 months going public. I know it was similar in other units. Might be worth asking your GP for a referral.

Linoforce is effective but you would really, really want to be within twenty feet of a toilet at unpredictable times after taking it. It can be a bit dramatic.

With respect to a colonscopy, if you can afford it get a referral from a GP and go private. I had a lot of bowel trouble aggravated by stress and after investigations benign polyps were found in my bowel.
