Front door curtain - which rail?

I've bought a thermal curtain for the front door. To be fair it's not too bad heat loss wise as is, and it seals well enough with a draft excluder fitted to the botttom of the door, but the glass is single glazed so I reckon it can be improved.

The door is recessed as you can see, and I'm looking for advice on the best way to open/close the curtain and door, whilst getting the best performance from the new thermal curtain.

I looked at a portiere rod, which lifts the curtain as the door opens, but they don't seem to suit suit a recessed door.

    Any advice is welcome.
