Recently watched Synecdoche, New York which was written and directed by Charlie Kaufmann. It is one of, if not the best films I've ever seen. In terms of cinema it is a masterpiece. In terms of art in general it is wonderful.

Smala Sussie. Possibly my favourite movie.

The whole movie is on youtube in 480p. Del1 means Part1

Slim Susie (Swedish: Smala Sussie) is a 2003 Swedish comedy crime film.
The film is set in a small industrial town in the Swedish province of Värmland, where a young man returns from the big city to investigate the sudden disappearance of his sister. Initially meeting little success with his inquiries, performed through the rekindling of brief acquintances with the very odd characters of an earlier life, he begins to form a picture of what has happened.

Based on the spy movies, maybe you'd like a little more noir!

    Fallen Angel (1945)
A con man, new in town, falls in love with a sexy waitress, and marries a rich woman in order to get at her money. The sexy waitress dies, and things go mental. 8/10

    Rififi (1955)
An EPIC heist movie. A bunch of dudes break into a jewellers, in what is easily one of the tensest scenes in film history. One of the thieves makes a mistake, and things go metal. 9/10

    Revenge For Jolly! (2012)
A hitman's dog is murdered, and with the help of his friend, goes in search of the killer, and things go metal. 8/10

    The Third Man (1949)
A writer visits his friend in Vienna, after he's offered a job by him. Turns out, his friend is dead, and it's up to the writer to uncover what happened to him, and things go mental. 8/10

If you enjoy those four, or any of them rally, let me know and I'll give another list :):) .

A film that I could recommend: Fight Club. Might be my favorite film!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 231 ✭✭claypigeon777

The first of Harrison Ford's "wife" movies directed by Roman Polanski is a real gem called Frantic in which a square doctor goes on an odyssey through the Parisian underworld to find his kidnapped wife.

Polanski's Chinatown. is simply one of the best private eye movies ever made. A cynical gumshoe finds out he's completely out of his depth when it comes to the evil and depravity of the string pullers who rule 1930s LA.

I think I've seen the third man before alright - it's a Hitchcock film isn't it?

Carol Reed, but close enough. It does seem like a Hitchcock movie, though, to be fair. It's a deadly flick.

Im not going anywhere near it - the films been ruined enough already the day Spike Lee got his horrible, arrogant little hands on it. Its just another example of Hollywood taking a fantastic film and ruining it just to cash in

Oh dear God I sound like a hipster don't I.... unclean, unclean!!!! :P

Na, I do like Josh Brolin but I'm too big a fan of the original to watch it get pissed all over by Spike Lee. The reviews didn't exactly raise my hopes either, less octopussy and more violent (somehow) apparently.

Must watch the original again soon, fun story, first time I watched it it was nearly with my dad (I'm a girl). Thank GOD someone called for him to go to the pub.
