Upgrade to Parallels 9 from 8

    Amazon are currently selling Parallels 8 for Mac for £37.50 or so. If you buy now, you can apply to Parallels for a free upgrade to version 9 which is Mavericks ready. Much cheaper that just buying Parallels 9!!

    Note: I did this last week and made sure to buy from Amazon directly, even though they were slightly dearer than some of the resellers. Apparently Parallels doesn't accept purchases from resellers as part of their upgrade programme.

    Virtualbox is free ! Why pay for something when there is a free alternative ? Never particularly liked the way Parallels took over the desktop.
