Anybody interested in a Remap Group buy?

I done one of these a few years back and it worked a treat.
I have a few guys from BMW Driver and few from BMW Haus forums already signed up, so if anybody wants to jump on the band wagon, just let me know.

Martin in Autoremap will be doing the mapping and has offered us a discount based on the number of people involved - http://www.autoremap.com/

I have 3 definate confirmations, and about 7 interested parties.
Based on the 3 confirmations, the price will be €265 but the more we get, the lower it goes.

Dyno Dynamics Rolling Road will be available on site for €50 on top of whatever the discounted remap price will be, that includes before and after Dyno Run!
The closing of this group buy is 30th September 2013

Anybody on the list will be counted up and a final price from Martin will be got. We can than arrange to all go to Martin together (bit of banter) or we can arrange ourselves directly with Martin for a date that suits each person best.

9 confirmed now with a few promising to come back to me after the weekend.

I might be interested in this if I could find out what sort of an increase I can get from him but there's nothing on the site to show me :(

Would be interested but the tax is due this month :( Can't see the projections either (using Chrome or IE 10)

Remapping to be carried out in October or in November by agreement with Martin, once your name is on the group buy list.

Where's the rolling road? Here's hoping someone in Dublin has bought one :D

Yep, Martin is trialling one at present, due to be delivered in the morning.
    E92 335i

Just off the phone to Martin there, about 30bhp gains but he said it kinda depends on the particular engine at the time.

He is away at the moment so will check his personal database after the weekend.

Dyno before and after at extra cost? Is he not doing the map on the dyno?

Wouldnt imagine so. Most of these remaps are uploaded while stationary.

    OSI wrote: »
So they're just remaps generic to the model, rather than tailored to the car?

I dont know the in's and out's, but it wouldnt be a bespoke remap like what you would get done on an Evo or Impreza, those cars i got live mapped in the day, but for you run of the mill diesel of turbo petrol cars, its the same process as what Joe Power would do, Joe and Martin are probably the longest running mappers in the city at present, and i wouldnt go to anybody else.

    OSI wrote: »
Pretty sure Joe does his remaps with the Dyno, ie he runs the car on the Dyno, sees where improvements can be made, changes the map, runs it and again, and tweaks it.

Reading the above, it sounds like you turn up, they upload a remap, and off you go again, no testing or tweaking.

Joe, uploads the map in the same way. He also charges for the dyno time in the same way Martin does.
Martin reads your ECU and then gets the map based on those parameters, and it is tweeked to suit your car. You can adjust it if you have full exhaust systems, intakes etc etc

its not a plug in and go job, takes about an hour minimum from my experience.

Winner. In fairness I would imagine he is buying it so he can live tune on it. Otherwise its a waste.

My cousin got his 330D mapped with Martin, good service and hes big into his cars! Had a track ready E36 individual with a supercharger kit waiting to be fitted *drool*

Anyway said 330D hasn't skipped a beat since and produced around ~267HP iirc at the couture dyno day a few months ago

From memory, it goes up to about 250-260bhp and lots more torque, similar gains as the 530d.

Yeah he didnt go into too much over the phone, but you know Martin is on the race scene now, he has sold the M5 and is racing a fiesta and E36 M3 at present, so maybe something to do with that?

I'm getting my LCI one done and expect to achieve about 345bhp.

Anybody interested, please put your name in a list.
At current rates we are now looking at €250 as we have 5 confirmations.

Martin did my LCI 535d a couple of years ago. Dyno'd at 343 bhp. Now have 250k kms and no issues. Would definitely recommend it.

250 euro is a great price, can't really complain about that for a generic map. With that saving i would recommend a dyno run for anyone going it's a great way to check the general health of the car and get some live data on air to fuel mix etc.

    A dyno day?

I'm interested in a dyno, but my car is not really remappable , a petrol non-turbo '98 GS300.

I would be very interested to see how many horsies are lost when it's running on lpg compared to petrol though.......

It's not really a dyno day, more of a mapping day.
But maybe that's something we can look at separately.

October sometime. Closing off the group buy on 30th September. Getting the final price and then we either

Arrange a day where we all go down.
    Or
Each individual can arrange a day that suits them best.

+1 - as I said earlier in the thread I would be interested but I'd need a confirmed price on how much before I could commit

    Even something like...

    10+ = €250 each
    15+ = €220
    20+ = €200
    etc

    Hi kceire,

I'd be interested in joining the bandwagon too - but does he test using 95 Octane petrol and get the best "power graph" for acceleration?
Alternatively, does he tweak it just for peak power (but might not get the best power graph for acceleration)?
Finally, I think a lot of remappers are using maps intended for 98 octane petrol (which we can't get here) - is he using maps for 95 octane petrol, even if the car is meant to use 98 octane for full power (pointless for Ireland)?

I've an e46 m3 (2003) and I'd like to finally bite the bullet after 2.5 yrs and get it fully optimised for our crap 95 octane petrol.

Also, just out of idle curiousity, would this also remove the speed limiter on the car, in case it was taken to the Autobahn or a long track? :) It's limited to 169mph at the moment but would love to see how far the speedo can go on a dyno test bed when it's unlimited.

    Thanks,
    Sam

    Hi kceire,

I'd be interested in joining the bandwagon too - but does he test using 95 Octane petrol and get the best "power graph" for acceleration?

Sam you will gain nothing on an M3. It wouldn't be really worth your while.

Can I be included in the group kceire.

    2008 Honda Accord I-DTEC 147bhp.

Been thinking about getting it mapped for the last few months.

    250 euro would be a huge saving:D

What kinda gains will I see?

You can pm me if you want.

I don't post here much, just read, so if you need a deposit from me or anything I will not be offended ;)

Is he able to do a Mk6 Golf 1.6 TDi 105PS? I know superchips do a remap which can give another 41bhp and 70nm of torque but not everyone is offering it. If it can be done, count me in (the car database thing on the site isn't working).
