Yahoo will expire and REUSE old e-mail accounts... account hijacking threat

The guys from the "Security Now" podcast ( Leo Laporte and Steve Gibson ) were giving out about Yahoo's idiotic decision to close e-mail accounts
which are inactive for more than a year. ( no problem there )

But that those e-mail account names will be recycled, and you can pay a couple of quid to be notified when one you want becomes available.

So you are able to subscribe to the expiry of specific e-mail addresses, and if the user failed to pay attention, you get ownership/control of that e-mail account.

You might be able to request password resets to sites they subscribed to via their old e-mail address then hijack other accounts of theirs.

All sounds like a completely disastrous idea to me.

I made sure to login to my old and nearly abandoned Yahoo account just in case, and made sure I've no sites of value registered to that account.

    regards,
    CD
