Muscle pain after workout

    Hi All,

I've been going the Gym for a few months. I was doing xtrainer and weights mainly.

On Monday myself and my mate decided to take a TRX rip class.

Well we where not expecting what we got lol. While is a great class and we will be going again, we are both very sore after it.

This class was on Monday. On tuesday my arms/chest/shoulders where ok.. I had a little pain in my legs.. be it was ok. ( my friend was in bits as he's don't done anything in months ( gym wise )

Today ( Wednesday ) i'm so sore in my arms/shoulders area. Worst then i've ever felt before. I know in the long run I will gain from it and it will get easier.

but my question is for now, at the start of these TRX class what should I be doing.. before and after them to ease the pain. I take it it's lactic acid ?

I read that stretching after the workout will help, Would protein drinks help ? would deep heat help ?

I drank water during the workout. .but I might bring a bigger bottle next time.

The class does stretching before the class. Is there anything else I can do to prep for it ?

any tips and advice would be great.

( Also i know there will always be pain .. no pain no gain lol.. but just looking for ways to ease it a bit )

    thanks.

sounds like doms, this is from using muscles you dont normally use, or using them in a different way.

Best option is to put some mtfu cream on and carry on as normal.

Keep moving the offending muscle with a light workout maybe, or a short walk. It will pass in a day or 2.

    It's man the **** up cream :D

Quite hard to get hold of these days, but once you get a tube it lasts for ages.

Just tough it out. Doms only hurts for 2 days or so, and its a nice pain.

keep it moving and it will get easier.

Its on the same shelf as elbow grease and htfu pills. ;)

Keep going to the class, thats what helps. The pain will never be as bad as the first day.

There will come a time youll want to feel pain so you know you worked.

Im going to quote you all the time, every time from now on ;-)

actually, as a more concrete tip you can reduce the doms effect buy using the muscles in the same way again.
eg, if you get it from squats then go for a light bike ride the next day. it will hurt at first but reduce a little faster.

So if your shoulders are hurting from trx then some easy pushups, swimming, pull ups, bench presses will get your shoulders moving.

Suffering from it myself today after a heavy shoulder/upper back session on Monday. That was my first time back in the gym after a 3 week injury lay off.

I remember using the gym at PK and the following day not being able to walk the stairs and having to take the lift up 1 flight to get to our office :o

Can't say much more than what has already been said. Just work through the pain, you'll be grand tomorrow night/Friday morning.
