    Sturridge
    Tekkers again, or possibly Sturridge.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,022 ✭✭✭✭Iused2likebusts

    Ozil
Probably walcott he could have had a hat trick last weekend and I think his pace and ozils vision is the perfect combination.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 317 ✭✭bo-sco

    Ozil
Might do Walcott as well. Have Giroud and Sturridge as well but Walcott is going to score big sometime soon.

Might do this myself, I'm currently on the Giroud bandwagon with my wildcard but I think he'll be out for Rooney next week, I'll be relying on Ozil to help Theo to over 20 goals this year.

    Goal-a-game Sturridge at the minute.

I thought about Giroud but I'm mindful of Hughes' record against Arsenal and Stoke's performance last weekend against City.

Hughes knows how to stop Arsenal playing. Time and time again when he was Blackburn manager we basically played one up top with a bank of five and then a bank of four behind them.

There was no trying to attack apart from the odd venture up the pitch when the chance presented itself but even then the players were ready to get into defensive formation the minute it was needed.

I will be as normal sticking with the FFS poll though.

Have it as Soldado at the moment as I dont think either RVP or Lambert will do much this week.

My midfield is poor so pointless and defender is too many eggs in one basket.

    Walcott
Giroud just pips Sturridge for me

I would say Southampton are better than Stoke, so Arsenal are more likely to score against Stoke than Pool against Southampton

    Ben Arfa
Can't decide between Studge, Tekkers or Giroud.
At the mo it on Sturridge.
    But that could change.

    Ozil
Wolcott I'd say even though I could give it to any of my 3 strikers, Giroud, Benteke or Sturridge.
Walcott will probably get the nod

    Ugh, I dunno.

Ive got Soldado-Sturridge-Giroud, I dont think I should break it up by getting Tekkers in

I'm hoping Soldado starts his season this weekend. Anything less than a brace and I'll be getting rid of him but would be nice to go out with a bang. I have him, Tekkers and Sturridge. All three are captaincy options, although I might go with Benteke based on the poll above. Would be a nice differential if he bangs in a few, which he's well capable of. I usually don't take risks with captaincy though, going with the obvious choice will work out best in the long run. Sturridge worries me this week without Coutinho.

Giroud can f**k off. Needs to remember he's not that good.

    Walcott
Giroud is a better option than Soldado, wont be outscored by him over the season and is cheaper...was a million cheaper before the latest rises. He's had a season in England and is gonna have a big season goalscoring wise.

Cardiff away will be tough for Spurs, can see a slip there tbh and I wouldnt expect a free-scoring game.

As I said above, I agree that Arsenal may not score alot.

Hughes knows how to play against Arsenal. Blackburn were very adept at beating them under him. Stoke will play with two banks of players. They'll be tough to break down.

In saying that, Giroud is leading the FFS poll so I may end up going with him.

Stoke under Hughes are chalk and cheese with how Blackburn played under him. He didn't set up anything like that last week against City and they were robbed not to win the game, so I don't see why he would change against Arsenal.

I've done my homework on this .

Blackburn's record under Mark Hughes against Arsenal .
    Played 11 W2 L7 D2 .
This includes League , League Cup & Fa Cup .

I think you may be exaggerating a little bit .

Contrary to popular belief, Blackburn under Hughes played decent football.

The team had already been labelled long ball merchants, dirty kickers etc. when he arrived because Souness had us playing some terrible stuff. Hughes inherited a team on the bottom of the league who had players like Neill, Dickov, Flitcroft etc. The first season we battled our way away from relegation. There's no disputing that

Then Hughes gave MGP a chance, bought Bentley, Santa Cruz, Bellamy and we played decent stuff but didn't get the credit because of the seasons gone past. Then Sam arrived and we went back to the putrid stuff so Hughes' good time was forgotten about.

The reason he would change against Arsenal is that Stoke are away, not at home like last weekend and, I'm sure as well as us, Hughes reckons Stoke could be ripped apart if they go there chasing a win.

I could be. I just remember Blackburn regularly doing well against Arsenal - in particular a game where there was a touchline fracas in an FA Cup match because Fabregas walked up to Hughes at the end and said "that wasn't Barcelona football" in reference to Hughes previously playing for Barca.

Would you have a run down of those results? I'd be interested in seeing how many Arsenal put past us over those years.

    You're a Blackburn fan!!!:eek::eek::eek:
Does this mean you were 8 years old in 1995 or is there some other reason?

Probably for another thread but I turned on the TV back in 1993 and Rovers were beating Villa 3-0 and Villa were second in the league. I figured I might as well support these lads!

Anyway, back to FF. I'm surprised that is Hughes' record against Arsenal at Blackburn. Any chance of scores Lucas Hood? Would like to see how many they put past us.

I remember a couple of games where Henry and Van Persie lead us on a merry dance but we generally did well.

    Edit: got them myself. 1-0, 3-0, 3-0, 1-0 win, 6-2, 2-0, 0-0 draw, 1-0 win, 1-1 draw, 3-2, 2-0.

Towards the end of Hughes reign when he got his spin on the team our record was 2 draws, a win and three losses. That must be the period I'm remembering. The 0-0 draw and subsequent 1-0 win were the FA Cup games I mentioned above where Fabregas made the comments after the game.

    Walcott
Michu could be a sneaky one. Will see how Swansea get on tonight but away games could nearly suit them better especially as Palace will be pretty gung-ho and I'd expect Swansea to hit them on the counter. Otherwise it's Giroud/Walcott or maybe even RVP. Give him another run-out to see if he can show me he deserves to stay over a Rooney/Suarez combo.

I don't expect much from Soldado away to Cardiff but hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

Basically I haven't made my mind up yet :pac:

The uncertainty over him ebing fit for Swansea would have resulted in a few exclusions.

I think Suarez can only help Sturridge. Sturridge will continue to play through the middle and Liverpool will be more creative with Suarez.

Sturridge for me. Was thinking of Walcott but stoke are looking really organised this season so I expect a close game. Arsenal also played midweek so that's another negative.

Giroud currently leading the FFS poll by 5% and 300 votes so looks like I'll be going with him. My own gut choice would be Sturridge.
