Hip arthroscopy - orthopaedic recommendation

    Hello all,

I was diagnosed about 3 years ago with a hip labral tear, went to Santry Sports Clinic. Anyway, I've put off doing anything further re surgery etc until now, but it seems to have gotten worse recently so my plan is to have it looked again and possibly go ahead with surgery this time.

Anyway, my q's is can anyone recommend a good orthopaedic consultant in Dublin? I could go back to SSC but wasn't too keen on the doctor that saw me first time, so could go to someone else maybe, or Beacon would be handiest location wise to me.

Any recommendations though (any where in Dublin) would be much appreciated if anyone had similar surgey done.

    Many thanks
    Simon

    Hi.

I fell for you. I was knocked off my bike 20 months ago. Pain ever increasing. Anyway I've now got a date for labral tear hip repair. I saw a number of people. Eventually the guy was Mr Tom McCarthy in SSC. Don't know who you saw out there. But he was a decent enough fellow and I'd had to get referred to him from Andy Franklyn miller.

    Best of luck

Thanks for that. From looking through boards Mc Carthy and Mulhall seem to come up a bit re hip labral tears, both in SSC. Seems to be a succesful enough operation too. When are you having yours? Was there much of a wait from seeing him to the surgery date?

    Thanks

I'm having mine in mid November. Ibhad to see him twice as I've another issue he wanted resolved first. If that wasn't there then I'd say 4-6 weeks from initial visit to op would be a good indication. As long as you have MRI and other stuff. He might send you to get them again.

    Best of luck
