My mam is 79 and has been complaining recently about pain in her lower back and top of thigh is is kind of recurring on and off last year bit more frequent now. I am thinking its this type of arthritis as her other parts arent affected I dont know much about the condition. I was giving her Voltorol gel but this is only a temporary relief. I am more inclined to go down the creams, bandages alternatives therapy routes as she has mild dementia and takes lots of tablets. Just wondering if anyone knows any good remedies I heard things like TENS, acupuncture, massage but they may be costly and not help in long run. She used to use belladonna plasters on her back which gave her relief but they recently got discontinued so looking for an alternative.

TENS can help if she's got pain in the muscles surrounding the affected joints if the pain is in the joint itself it won't do much. A TENS unit is about 20 euro so its not too costly an investment.
