repeat first year

i am waiting to find out if i will be allowed to repeat first year, if i apply to cao to available places will this damage my chance of being allowed to repeat? i am only thinking of doing this in case i am not allowed to repeat, the available places course is different to the one im currrently on just dont know what to…
